I had an e-mail exchange with Kasper (the author of KarmaFX) regarding why the effect version of the synth doesn't seem to function in eXT. He isn't all that familiar with the host, so he wasn't sure what the problem is. I can link the effect to a VSTi in Chainer, for example, and it works, but it doesn't in eXT. Anyone familiar with how to link it?

Never had any problems myself, what exactly is the problem? No sound coming out?

I've also used the KarmaFX Synth in XT a few times, maybe it requires transport information? (try starting the 'master' play button in the main mixer?)

Yeah, no sound. I received another e-mail from Kasper after I noted the same problem in Live, and he said the patch being used has to have an input module. Having little experience with KarmaFX and being that there's no documentation, I'm not at all sure what that means. And this would seem to indicate that I'd have to add an input module to each patch. Any insight into this would be great. Not interested in the VSTi, just the Synth FX plug-in.

He means you have to set a "generator" within the FX version to "input". For instance, if you were to delete everything in the window and start from scratch, right click on the back and go to Add Component -> Generator -> Input and then connect the generator to the output, the sound will pass through. You can insert FX and route them however you want.

Does that work for you?

[edit]

I should point out that when I first added it, it didn't work for me either. Because the generator was supposedly creating sound, so I set that to input, but no luck either. After moving some things around, it looks like the default patch isn't connected properly, or it wasn't after I moved things, so starting fresh is the best answer, in case you were not already doing so.

I had the same experience after he explained what to do, and I noticed that not all modules are hooked up in all patches. He said the next version will have a lot more effects, which is precisely what I need. Thanks for the help. :)

Oh, now this sounds good. The plugin tends to come on in bounds with each release, I can't wait.

Thread moved from the EnergyXT forum, as the problem doesn't have anything to do with EnergyXT. Kind of tough to decide what forum to put this in, when it's concerning a modular as well, but I felt this was closest for the thread.
