AdmiralQuality wrote:runagate, all I can say is I came up with the Zappa observation entirely independently. So it's not just your friends... it's me too! :D

Anyway, awesome stuff! Good work. :D
Oh, don't get me wrong - to the degree that I'm familiar with Zappa (he has 8 billion songs so I think I'm at the 5% mark lol, that'd be a totally different statement if it were some other musician) I agree and absolutely see what people mean. I just don't like Zappa yet. Maybe I will. I saw a semi-big jazz band of brilliant horn players arrange some Zappa at a Beefheart documentary. That was freaking brilliant. I don't get 2 things of his: his humor and his solos. Which is odd since I have a dumb sense of humor and love spastically complex jazz solos.

And that reminds me: why on earth not post a second, third and fourth song in the Cafe? Certainly you can't be that shy if you posted your first song!

Well, coming from me anyway, it's a compliment. But yes, like you, I only know a BIT of Zappa. (But I admire and envy his chops, as I do yours.)

Oh man, I could post 24 crappy 80's songs that me, and my friend momo, made back then. GOD we were prolific!!! Between 85 and 90 we probably made enough music to fill 2 or 3 "albums" (that's like a CD to you kids ;) )

In time... perhaps. ;) I'm still listening to #1 thinking... my god, what have I done?

Cheers bud. You rock.

 :-o On that you may just possibly have seen God (or someone like him)! :-o

Really wish I had the tape, too, but back then I knew so little about what I was doing -- and was rather embarassed about it -- that even accidentally interesting stuff was discarded. :(
Yeah, I know the feeling. My various musical partners and I probably have boxes of four-track tapes I'll never get to hear mixed down, ever.

Someone like God? The Boognish was just here recently but I missed It.

But here's a link to the first 'all-computer in one sitting' song I did acouple of years ago...
where I realized singing was no longer an option
with my newly aquired guitar and guitarport that was supposed to be used for teaching my youngest guitar, but he lost interest after about 3 months.
Bitching. You know what that reminds me of? You. As a person.
That bass makes me smile, it's sort of a happy evil gnome innit?
Plus that is the most tasteful blues-rock guitar I've heard on KVR. hat a drum machine, eh? You made it sound good, dammit. How do you oldschool people fit a drum machine in a rock song?! Mystifies me. I couldn't ever do that, but then I am analog-challenged.

Clueless, clueless, clueless...You know, I realize you're probably not super down with that bubblegummy sound nowadays but that's some tight band-melding there. Lots of good ideas, too, ideas I'd use right now. Makes me wish I hadn't just missed Peeping Tom play Tuesday night. Very nice and certainly ballsy to share that considering how far you've come to now.

Weird, isn't it? I expected to laugh my ass off at most of these songs but it turns out that they're very revealing - of good traits. Hmm only 35:00 for the rest of them to finish downloading. Maybe if I watch the transfers tick down I'll finally fall asleep.

hold on while I remaster and render my first

Remaster? Cheating!

So, this isn't my first song - but it's one of the oldest that I have in mp3 on this pc. I have boxes of back up discs and tapes but, none of them are here with me. So, this is what you get. I never, ever post any of my "serious" stuff on here. This is no exception.

your song's something else :D I definately hear the craftmanship in it!
Betcha learned a bit making it also... :hihi:
I see were somebody would judge your tune against Zappa, but I hear a different influence in there, but I can't quite remember the composer. Definately crazy-jazz-rock-effectron stuff!
My little tune was just a "... let's see how simple we can make a tune" (3 notes)and trying to point out to Dan that it ain't how fast the notes are played, but how they're sung out. What constitutes an emotive feel blah blah blah. Yawn... starting to bore myself with my chatter, sorry.

not really; its a good excuse to improve my mastering skills ;)

Mysterious Hugs (remastered)
128kbs/13,8M/15.08m

its lengthy and slow building and repetitive, but it really is my first
equip back then: A5000 sampler, SY85 and some plugins (the standard package I believe)

PS: this was made in the summer of 2004 (yeah I was late; had too much fun spinning music al those years)

Um, I remastered my "first" stuff in 2002. It's 4 years later now. It's 21 years since I originally recorded it.

We didn't have MP3's, or anything but tape, back in 1985. First chance to cut a CD was mid-90's.

If you really want, maybe I can digitize an original mix of it for you. Though I'm sure you're not really interested.

I was kidding! I really wish I had my extremely old recordings with me. I'd share them, though I would probably be quite a bit embarassed in doing so.

And I f**ked it up.

I could dig out some C90s from 1987 though... :scared: :scared: :scared:

ok, so it was a pop group, whaddya want? :hihi:
Hehe. You can hear it's a couple of years old, but unlike all other old-fashioned pop, I loved listening to this! :D

Nice one!

This is one of my first tunes. Not "the" first, but ah well. Filelodge isn't working, so yousendit is gonna have to do for now.

It's actually more like my third or fourth tune.
Ohh, I remember this, yes. But this was from when you started making music.. :P I remember those old tunes you used to send me way before this, Ildon. 8)

This song's still very spacey, and nice work. :D

I have the first ever made out a pc, circa '99.
but it's loaded with loops from the soundblaster demo soundfonts :hihi:
quite bootleg, don't know if it's the case..

AdmiralQuality wrote: advaya.... "You Never Trust Me". OH SO Beatlesque!!! (Have I made that comment to you before? I think I did!!!) Wow... you're a force to be reckoned with! Love it! That's songwriting! I know the production could be better, but hey, the songwriting SHINES THROUGH. Very George Harrison. Great solo. Did you say "with your lonley mom"? ?" Dude, if you wanna make a band I'm IN. We're only 3/4 of a a very wide country apart!

For what it's worth, that wasn't advaya, that was my song. Like you, it's the first bit of content I posted here. And yes, "with your lonely mom". :D:D:D

I'm a drummer in a hard rock band (a power trio -- so very un-KVR), but outside the band, I mostly work on guitar, singing, writing, etc.

I've been watching your development efforts. It all looks very promising. And yes, I'd like to collaborate on something in the future.

Thanks for the compliments!

Here's the link for anyone interested...
