I hope it has a better midi editor and drum map midi editor. I just like the one in Cubase I guess and using the Sonar one is just a pain, especially the drum map one. O yea... Also native VST support, no more messing around with DFHS.

Yeah, all these upgrade discounts were announced for August only, and it'll probably be September before we actually know what we're upgrading to!

I've decided to go ahead and take the leap of faith (though will wait until end of month just in case some features get leaked out); I'm still on version 4, so rather than wait and go straight to 6 and risk possibly losing V-Vocal or Perfect Space, I'm jumping in blind, baby!

Well, they're using beta testers for new versions of the VST Wrapper, so it's looks like good old VST->DX wrapping for the near future. (including all the juicy VST stuff that DX doesn't support... )

I can't see what the 'wrapper' fuss is about. Every synth and effect I have runs perfectly in Sonar 5PE.

I have some issues with the vst adapter

When you do a fresh install some of the vst plugins gets a new ID so you get into trouble with projects created before the fresh install.
Most of the Kjaerhus Classic series gets their id changed for some strange reason.

And the stupid handling of the vst list where you have to use the plugin manager everytime you install a new vst (If you are like me who wants to have everything sorted in that list).

Why can't they just add a saving option in that stupid plugin manager so you could save your setup before adding new vst's?

Exactly. Im glad you understand. Since all of his synths and effects work prefectly, its clear that the approach of using an abstraction layer is actually working out.
And since the abstraction layer (the 'wrapper') can be updated separately from Sonar itself (which wouldnt be the case with this idiotically misunderstood concept of 'native VST support') then solving problems with plugins which do cause problems isnt going to require updates to Sonar itself, just the abstraction layer. Which is a good thing.
Of course since the same people here resolutely refuse to accept that most hosts dont actually understand support 'NATIVE VST', and use internal 'wrappers' anyway, I guess that's a moot point because nothing is going to shut up this kind of pointless, misinformed whining.
