Most of the Kjaerhus Classic series gets their id changed for some strange reason.
Sign up for the beta version of the wrapper. In the forum you'll get access to, there's a tool to download which will sort this problem out for you.
And the stupid handling of the vst list where you have to use the plugin manager everytime you install a new vst (If you are like me who wants to have everything sorted in that list).
Im not aware of any other host which even gives you the option of sorting your plugins. So yes, you do need the Plugin Manager to manage plugins. Or SUBSonar.
Why can't they just add a saving option in that stupid plugin manager so you could save your setup before adding new vst's?
You can use Bruce Ennis' SonarTools to do that. Or SUBSonar.

I am a beta tester and i complained about it (That is why the clsid tool was made).

And i did really thank them for listening to my problem and for fixing it so fast, but it would be even better to have that option in the adapter itself so it did check the plugin name/info and fix the clsid to the correct one when you are loading a project.

Ok. i did'nt know of the SonarTools, but i have tried the subsonar, but the problem is that i have so many under maps so it does'nt recognize my map system correctly.

Except for that i have no problem at all with the adapter (My synths & effects works just fine with it, and it does'nt use more cpu than other hosts that has vst native support).

Btw. where can i get the SonarTools?

Post

Is there a way to stop SONAR's DX-converted VSTs appearing in other hosts?

I have to minimise FL's DXi list every time I want to load a VST because it's crammed full of VST Adapter references that fill up the screen.

I dont know if it can identify it automatically, but on-the-fly replacement/fixing on loading a project would indeed be useful.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'so many under maps'. Would you mind explaining that?

Sorry, my fault, its Sonar Utils...

Ask the host developer to allow you some control over which DX and DXi plugins it lists.

Ahh thanks whyterabbyt :D
By under maps i meant Cakewalk\vst\Effects\Sound Processing\Parametric Eq\ElectriQ and Cakewalk\vst\Synths\Fm\Toxic III\ + EJFM.dll in the FM folder only.

But it might be me who has set up the SubSonar incorectly also.

The Reason for setting it up like this is that i am using the same vst folder in EnergyXT, and to make sure that my whole vst folder does'nt get uninstalled if i get a vst plugin with a bad uninstaller (Like the problem another one on this forum experienced with the Toxic III installer wich is fixed now btw.)

Im really sorry, I dont quite understand that; I'm working on the basis of what I think you mean; if Im wrong, sorry...

If you've got a folder called

Cakewalk\vst\Effects\Sound Processing\Parametric Eq\ElectriQ
and a plugin called

Code: Select all

electriq.dll
in it, then SUBSOnar, by default will give it a folder name of

Code: Select all

ElectriQ electriq
However if there's only one plugin in a given category (ie ElectriQ), then Sonar doesnt list it in a submenu at all. You'd have to edit the subsonar.ssdat file so the folder name was something like

Code: Select all

Parametric_EQs electriq
and have at least one other in the same folder, say

Code: Select all

Parametric_EQ myFaveParaEQ
before you'll see a submenu entry for Parametric_EQ with the plugins 'electriq' and 'myFaveParaEQ' listed under it.

Ok. Thanks will try that now :tu:

Exactly. Im glad you understand. Since all of his synths and effects work prefectly, its clear that the approach of using an abstraction layer is actually working out.
And since the abstraction layer (the 'wrapper') can be updated separately from Sonar itself (which wouldnt be the case with this idiotically misunderstood concept of 'native VST support') then solving problems with plugins which do cause problems isnt going to require updates to Sonar itself, just the abstraction layer. Which is a good thing.
Of course since the same people here resolutely refuse to accept that most hosts dont actually understand support 'NATIVE VST', and use internal 'wrappers' anyway, I guess that's a moot point because nothing is going to shut up this kind of pointless, misinformed whining.
i don't see the connection to my earlier post. what are you going on about? :?: :?: :?:

well, no shit, sherlock. if every synth and effect of yours runs perfectly, it's no wonder you don't see what all the fuss is about. get it?
 brilliant

Hmmmm actually there are some issues with the wrapper still for some plugs I use but if they're changing that then that will be good...

Post

And there are issues with some plug-ins for most hosts (remember the Traktion sticky, or the discussion on the Reaper forum). The fact that it's a wrapper (ie. separate dll from the main application) is a complete red herring.

is Sonar still possed by the devil?

or was that just a rumour?
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

its pretty good now really, still a few annoying things, like the wrapper, that looping bug, the other looping bug. I've been doing a collab with someone on cubase sx3 and to be honest it seems that S5PE is far more stable, faster workflow, better plugins, but loses massively on audio editing.

please cakewalk can you make sonar 6 compare to cubase in the audio editing area? :)

Post

In the few montsh i have been using S5 PE I have found it to be:

* Far more reliable than Tracktion 2.1

* More stable than Sibelius 3

* Similar to Audition 2

* Not quite as solid as Ableton Live 5

* Certainly not as bullet-proof as Reason 3.

Obiously that is based on my own personal experience/use though.
