Hi Jacob,

Liveslice v1.43 keeps crashing on me when I try to do an offline render. Keep getting:

VST Plugin Crash Information
File Name: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins\Samplers\Livelab Liveslice\LiveSlice.dll
File Size: 712704 bytes
File Creation Time: Friday, July 29, 2005, 2:35:43 AM
Exception Code: c000008e (FLT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO)
Fault Address: 10048DF8 01:00047df8 LiveSlice.dll
Thread Id: 260 (GUI thread)
Fault occurred in windows message handler.

Also crashes when I try to open a wave file within mulch when liveslice is open. Gives me an EZeroDivide error and crashes mulch.

uh oh... overlooked this one, sorry :-( Will check it out soon. Right now is the copenhagen jazz-festival so I'll be pretty busy listening to open air jazz concerts and drinking beer, but I promise to look at it next week.

I can live with that. Hope you have a good time at the festival.

I've contacted Ross about an NFR license / test license so I can test this, as my Audiomulch demo expired and I can't render audio. I'll fix it as soon as I hear from him.

I have tested LiveSlice in Audiomulch 1.0, and get no problems when using the "export to file" function - that's the one you meant right? Perhaps you could email me an audiomulch file that crashes, containing just a liveslice instance.

Hi Jacob,

Sorry, just saw you're reply. I'll email details to you this evening when I'm home. It doesn't appear to be related to a specific file.

I can't figure it out. I get two kinds of crashes:

1 - when I try to do an offline render with Liveslice, I'll get the above crash
2 - when I try to open a wave file though anyother plugin or audiomulch module, I get an "EZeroDivide" error.

But it is inconsistent. Sometimes there are other plugins loaded, sometimes there aren't. Sometimes it just won't crash. Sometimes multiple tracks/files are loaded in Liveslice, sometimes there's only one.

The only consistent thing is that it is triggered when I try to access a wavefile from disk while Liveslice is open. And only on my home system, couldn't get it to crash at work. Maybe a problem with SATA drives? That's the only major difference between the two systems, either that or M-Audio Delta ASIO drivers.

It's only started since Mulch went v1.0 and Liveslice went 1.4.

Try this file, it seems to be crashing often, but it didn't initially. Try opening/closing/saving it a few times, see if that gets it:

the whole thing sounds like a RAM issue to me. do you have the chance to borrow some RAM from a friend for testing? or you could just run a test ( http://www.memtest86.com/ ).
i once had similar inconsistent crashes when playing games and the reason was faulty RAM.

actually, it was a bug in liveslice - now fixed I hope - new beta is out by the way - very important changes and fixes, including this one, please test :-)

I'm glad it was fixable, I was ready to start ripping my system apart bit by bit until I found what was happening.

It's usually the software that's broken though - in this case a simple "division by zero" error, that somehow was not caught in the debugger.
