eXT gui problems in Live 5.21

If I load eXT latest beta in Live 5.21 there are a few problems. First if I right click to load a VST the menu comes up but there's no lists of plugins. Then if I click on options the window doesn't open. The only menu that works properly is the top one - favourites.

Funny, i was just about to post that I cant open a song without Live 5.21 locking up completely.
This is a real pity, these two apps just don't want to be playmates. I didn't get in on the Live 6 beta test, so I can't see if it has problems with eXT or not, it's really frustrating.

I'm sure Jorgen can fix it - lots of people use these two together.

Thats if its EXT's problem, it could be something to do with Live. I dunno, I sold live ages ago, EXT has become my main rig.

I just posted about it in the live 6 beta forum. I'm not sure how relavent to XT2 this problem is, it'd be a real boon if these gui problems went away for good. I demoed the Directwave sampler recently, and while Live 5.21 had no problems resizing drectwave's window to accomodate it's opening browser, eXT refused to open it at all. Not sure it's all Live's fault.

I'm having this problem too. In addition, the gui sub-windows for plugins in eXT are coming up naked: no title bar. I have to use the Ableton control to close eXT.aMUSEd wrote:if I right click to load a VST the menu comes up but there's no lists of plugins. Then if I click on options the window doesn't open. I'm just going back to Live 5.2. I'm tired of the eXT-Live wars.
Then when Live 6 comes out with the VST racks feature, I won't need to use eXT & Live together anymore.

I'm going to wait and see what XT2 has to offer before shelling out for Live6. If I had to choose between the two apps I think I'd have to stick to XT anyway, it just feels like it's going somewhere development wise. I really feel that Ableton Live reached its peak at version 3, everything else has been add ons that I've been asked to pay for once a year since, and it's midi is truly abysmal.
It's still the best audio sequencer on the planet though, so it'd be really nice if these two apps would get along a bit better.

It is a really good audio sequencer, but I *think* Jorgen is implementing timestretching into XT2, and if its as good as Live or better, then Live will be history for a lot of people I think.

Yes, XT2 comes with high-quality commercial real-time timestretching/pitchshifting algo. Audio clips can be resized (with snap) in the sequencer without changing pitch (or it can change pitch too if thats what you want).
cheers

especially if this works as it sounds like it should ...Amberience wrote:Awesome Jorgen. No need for Live then people
slaintejorgen wrote:Live mode in xt2 is different. Its per project and not per sequencer comp. What it does is showing each seq comp as a row. Then you have (play group or scene) columns that you can name as "intro" "verse" "ref" etc. In each cell in the colums you can select what preset to play from each seq comp. Its kind of like the matrix in Project5 but each cell can be anything from a single bd.wav to multiple midi and audio tracks.
The cool thing is that you can start with the matrix and drop stuff into it without knowing that xt2 is createing seq comps automatically in the background...
triggering can be recorded into a pattern view (with presets - for different mixes), or if you like, you can work only in the pattern view using xt as a plane pattern sequencer.
cheers
