Is there a host that I can put my VST's in and record the automation in real time. Like I used to do in Rebirth. I've tried it in FLstudio and it's kinda goofy. Tried it in Sonar too. Can you do it with Live??

Pretty much all DAWs/hosts let you record automation in real time.

What do you find goofy about it? As of FL 6 you can view and edit the recorded automation data in the Piano Roll as well as the seperate Event Editor (good for comparing automation to note start times etc.). Also, automation can be recorded for both Song mode and per pattern. How is it different from Reason? (you record the automation into a channel in the same way, don't you?)

In fact, I'm really surprised this still isn't possible for most synths in Sonar. I don't think it's the VST wrapper, because I've been able to record the automation from the plugin GUI using Directixer on identical VSTs now and again. I wish this would just 'work' across the board without having to put softsynths into an Audio track bin, which is afaik the only way to do this atm.

just hit the record button in fl in pattern mode or in song all the knob you move are recorded !
