You are confusing Betas with Public Betas.

You contradict yourself in the first sentence. Would you care to back up your second statement with facts?Kyran wrote:I did't say that there are no time limited beta's.
What I'm trying to say is that it makes perfect sense to make a beta timelimited and the vast majority of beta releases are.

A beta is where a group of individuals chosen both for their experience in the field and for their different setups (soundcards Cpu's operating systems etc) test a piece of software in private. Discussing the test results- bugs, feature requests, etc only with the developer and themselves. In the old days beta testers were paid with a NFR copy of the software they were testing. I have obtained a lot of software thru private beta testing.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:difference?Teksonik wrote:You are confusing Betas with Public Betas.
proof?
Public Betas are open to the public as the name implies and usually you get nothing but the priviledge of trying the lastest software version or newest product first. Sometimes you do get to request features etc and depending on how receptive the developer is you might see them in the final release version.
As for Proof I'm not sure what you mean?

proof of these statements -- and that regular betas are timelimited whereas public ones arenot.

Actually that is incorrect so no proof can be given.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:proof of these statements -- and that regular betas are timelimited whereas public ones arenot.

I cant really see how such proof could be given. Furthermore, could you give proof that the majority of betas aren't time-limited?Teksonik wrote:Actually that is incorrect so no proof can be given.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:proof of these statements -- and that regular betas are timelimited whereas public ones arenot.

What brought this up is that I simply didn't remember FL Studio betas being time limited. No big deal, I'm not against limited betas they make sense especially for Public Betas. I don't remember any of the private betas I've worked on Timing Out.

Can you prove a negative? Again all of the PRIVATE betas I've worked have not been time limited. Even with the Wusikstation beta which is the only one I'm currently working on is not time limited. The Chase wrote:I cant really see how such proof could be given. I think we are agreeing with each other.

Can we move on now please? Or is this thread still in beta? Or Public beta? Hope there is a time limit on it.
