GSoto, that XHip line is truly amazing. That one gets my vote!
I downloaded XHip, had a play and got there - what a sound! Then I noticed the CPU meter, oops... It seems like you don't get much for nothing in CPU terms. My 4400+ suddenly looks slow.

I have learned loads about stuff I'd never used or heard of thanks to you guys on this thread.

Could this be the start of an "emulated synth line of the week" feature? :)

Post

yeah , xhip is the clostest. actually sounds much fatter than that virus

Really? I can't get anything I'd rate as better than average out of it. I mean the GUI hardly inspires you to bother, does it. Maybe when its finished it might make more sense but I couldn't even work out how to do PWM.

Same here - can't be bothered with the thing - no presets

I must admit the xhip preset does sound best to my ears. However, as already mentioned, it's just so difficult to use with the current GUI.

IMO xhip is the best sounding freebie out there. But I cant get anything done with that interface. I'm looking forward to the full version.

I've given this a shot too, I won't say which synth just yet :D

I found this synth's filters very similar to the Virus in behaviour.

Also please note that in the phaser part of the melody, I have extended a few notes since I thought it sounded better. :D

Please let me know if you like it

Superb, would you care to share the preset?

pepelogu; the thing is, most of the sound is madeup with effects. unless it were an energyxt preset, and several different vst effects, you cant get a preset of that sound. i do not think even the virus example is 100% virus without anything else going on.

dont be such a preset pansy and put some effort in to create your own sounds! i mean, a preset for a basic saw with a filter twip on it, really?

i'm sorry i couldnt find a boot->ass photo.

i'll just post whatever this is instead:

I like it. Clean, full sound, not muddy.

The differences I hear with this clip

the original the filter closed back down more towards the end than this one does.
I think the key follow on the filter cutoff is more on the original than this one.
this one uses a ping pong type delay and the original doesn't

I think gsoto matched the original closer, but the basic character of the sound seems less full and round and pleasing.
