Deverb will be discontinued when Reverence comes out. Adam and I haven't yet discussed whether Deverb customers will get an upgrade price for Reverence. They are _very_ different products. Aside from the fact that they're both reverbs, they don't have much else in common. They share no code whatsoever; we normally reserve our upgrade deals for products that are related in some way.

Hi Chris,

First off, I want to say how much I love using your plugs. When I saw the preview for reverence I was stoked - I have been waiting for deverb to go UB. I'll be picking up reverence for sure, but was wonering why discontiune deverb? Will reverence allow for some of the same features as deverb, for example "Featuring twin filters for extreme shaping of the reverb tail, and unique MIDI controls allowing rhythmic "playing" of the effect?"

Thanks,

SL

I'm in the same boat. I mean, *I* will buy reverence regardless. I didn't get a chance to purchase deverb yet, I was going to but paying full price for a product that will never have an upgrade path doesn't feel right, and to me it seems strange to discontinue software. I guess if you're not making money off of it, then maybe offering it for free doesn't justify the support load. I'm sure it might not really make current owners happy, when they have have already paid.

It just seems sad to cast a cool product aside completely, bundling it with Reverence at least as an initial promo seems like good marketing to me.

Chris, please consider the benefits:

* It gives people one last chance to pick up the software (while still experiencing what you feel is more in line with AD's current design philosophy with Reverence)
* It's a good opportunity to get strong initial sales with Reverence (since people know the bonus won't be forever they can't put the purchase off and then potentially forget about it)
* It could be perceived as an act of philanthropy, boosting AD's image.
* It's a better alternative to an outright freebie because it's contingence on the purchase of Reverence guarantees a return on your part.

I know, I know - you don't come to where I work and tell me how to do my job. I'm just saying, a good idea is a good idea. People will love it, it can only help AD, and hey - Deverb deserves a good send-off if it is being discontinued.

well, that one would be a great reason for me to buy reverence. just saying, though. i like ad either way, so go on and do your thing.

are any updates to dubstation in the works/planned, by the way? it's a great plug, as it is, just wondering. :)

Um... so if Deverb and Reverence have nothing in common.. why discontinue deverb?

Sounds a little fishy to me... I mean.. on the one hand you're saying the products aren't related so you don't think a discount should be given.. then on the other you're saying it'll be discontinued and by implication superceeded by reverence...

I was lobbying for discontinuing Deverb basically because it isn't as good as Reverence. I like a tidy ship. However, Adam and I had a lengthy conversation about this very subject yesterday, and we've decided (due in no small part to the comments here) to port Deverb to VST2.4, UB, and AU after we release Reverence.

So, we won't be discontinuing it at all, as it turns out, but will continue to offer it. I'm thinking about giving it a facelift so it looks like the current Discord 2, or giving it a 3D UI. My main reasoning behind cancelling it was that it is one of our early products, and doesn't fit in with the current line. However, with a little nip here and tuck there, it would, and it's just a matter of doing the work.

So, as always, your wish is my command.

Now, for those of you who have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Reverence, we're working as fast as we can. We ran in to a couple little hiccups with our algorithm viz. room size, which are now fixed, and we're just finishing up the Windows version. If you want to see what it looks like, here's the finished UI:

We'll do the product page on the Audio Damage site with a proper screenshot and some samples here in a couple days. I'll post in this forum when it is done. It's not going to be on sale for a couple weeks yet, but I'm of the opinion that it'll be worth the wait.

Yaay!!! :D

I love Deverb, I think it's a beautifully musical reverb, and probably one of the best out there for electronic and dance music.

Maybe it's poor for realistic reverbs, but I don't think that was ever your goal with this product, so I think it's great to spice up drum loops and glitchy stuff, and it's actually the only reveb I use besides Live's built-in reverb. And hey, we all know about "not so great" gear becoming classic! :)

I love it so much that I'm going to integrate it into my DJ sets, as a special effect.

EDIT : though I do admit I'd like a less "goth" GUI for it.

Nice! You are the coolest. I'll go ahead and get both when Reverence is released (already shot my wad this pay period on a ehx Deluxe Memory Man). :P

IMHO, the 3D UIs should be reserved for devices that are (more or less) emulations of actual hardware, and you should use more abstract designs (a la Discord 2) for stuff like Deverb. Definitely a Discord 2-style UI would be cool for Deverb, but perhaps a different/nastier color scheme.

Oh, and Reverence looks great! Simple, very uncluttered without looking "empty", dark but with high contrast where it counts. I'll be excited to hear how it sounds. Don't really care how it stacks up to to the original just so long as it sounds good.

Mayhem is gone. We will almost certainly re-release an updated version of Filterpod, but the rest of Mayhem will cease to be.

As for bundles, my stock answer is "unlikely." We may change our minds at some point, but not in the foreseeable future.

GREAT looking GUI. I love the little bit of glare on the LED readout...fantastic. I realize I shouldn't be swayed by things like that, but honestly, who wants to look at some piece of shit on their screen while they work? Anyway, count me in, I'm very eager to hear it.

I'm absolutely thrilled that deverb is going UB. Even more so, I'm completely impressed with your response chris - you and adam are really something special in my small electronic music world.

RE UI: I'm all for an updated UI, with my vote going towards a matching UI with reverence.
