Hi there,

Sorry for the noob question/request but I don't know how to use the plugins at all (I found SimulAnalog Guitar Suite here which emulates the Univibe but I really don't know how to use it).
My goal is to be able to play guitar and to emulate the UniVibe's rotating speaker effect (or Leslie effect as well) while playing real time. Guitar FX BOX (http://www.guitar-fxbox.com/) works this way.

Please help.

http://www.simulanalog.org/guitarsuite.htm has a Univibe emulation. For Leslie you could try Spinner.

OK, first: The SimulAnalog suite is the best free guitar gear simulation suite, IMHO. It's definitely the way to go. It provides a good-sounding Marshall JCM900 as well as a Fender Twin 1969 and a few classic FX (Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss Dist/Overdrive Boxes, an Oberheim Phaser and the Univibe).

These are so called VST-Plugins. Now, you need a Sequencer to host your plugins. I would reccomend Reaper (www.reaper.fm) by Justin Frankel as it is freeware (until v0.99). Install it and place your VST-Plugs (i. e. the .dll files) in a folder where you can find them again (for reasons of "history" the place for the VST-Plugs is Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins as Steinberg is the inventor of the vst protocol; but you can put them everywhere you like).
After starting Reaper be sure to select your VST-Folder (Options/Preferences/FX Plugins). Reaper should now recognize the plugs.
Now, just hit CTRL/T to insert a new track. Click the red recording button at left of the track.
The meter shows the selected audio input. If your guitar is plugged to another input, select the right one by clicking the meter. Be sure the button showing a loundspeaker (at the left side of the meter) is not turned off.

Now, you should hear your clean guitar. It's time to put some FX. In the track section there's also a button called "FX" (if it doesn't appear, try to enlarge the track part of the window).
Click it. What you see, is your empty FX rig. Click "Add". If you made everything right in the window opening now you should find the plugs you installed before. Click one of them. Sound should change. Keep in mind that you can chain more fx (and even save the chain for further use). Simply drag the FX to change their order.
Close the window.
Voilá.

BTW: you can simply record your audio by hitting the main record button above the mixer section, and even add other tracks.

I assume you've got a soundcard with a "hi-z" (i. e. instrument) input, otherwise you will get a dull sound. If not, you should use a DI box and put it between your guitar and the line in of your soundcard. NEVER use the preamp section of a cheapo or build in soundcard, as they sound horribly. Use always the line in instead.

If your soundcard doesn't support ASIO (a driver model which allows to have low latencies) try the Asio4all (www.asio4all.com) generic driver to get low latencies.

The newly released EFM Stompers 2.0 fx 12 pack ( http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=144729 ) has a phasor with "Vibe" mode that sounds great to me, plus 11 other fx for free....can't beat that!

OMG, I love you guys!!! Thank you very much. Finally I can try UniVibe and Marshall Amps . Reaper and the plugins (especially SimulAnalog Guitar Suite) are beyond belief. You made my dreams come true.

What should I do in order to be able to play without any delays?

Are there any plugins that simulate Dallas Arbiter Fuzz-Face or Roger Mayers' Octavia effect?

I must be able to play it like through real effects and in real time...
My gear:
- electric guitar
- VOX Wah-Wah V847 I'd like to use as well (btw what do I need in order to change the order of the effects. For example if I'd like to setup the gear like this guitar-wah-wah-fuzz-UniVibe or guitar-fuzz-UniVibe-Wah-Wah?
- PC with integrated Realtek AC97 Audio (it's like no audio card at all),
- cable with adaptor ring (big-> mini jack)

You'll probably need theASIO4ALL universal ASIO driver to play through your VST plugins real time. Also, you really need some kind of DI or preamp to bring your guitar up to line level since you do not have a High-Z input. I'm afraid that, practically speaking, you will be stuck with hardware fx (like your Vox Wah) before your VST's - but the VST's can be put into any order within your host.

for th eorder you can't,unless u use some kinda send return plugins and some foot long adapters to split the in and out into 2 separa Te chains(inleft=guitar,out left=send to DI(reversed) in right return from another DI(out of the wha) then use the right out to drive the PA(this setup requires 3 DI for optimums(optimi?)results
you can save the hassle of the spits with another sound card(and keep the output stereo)

There are a lot of fuzz plugins, the octave ones (I think GSynth has octave up) included in the EFM Stompers 12 pack I mentioned above might fill the Ocatvia spot. Just search the plugin data base or the forums for more input about fuzz/distortion VST's. Audio Damage Fuzz Plus is pretty cool.
