Steinberg claims that Cubase/Nuendo uses all 4 cores on a quad G5.And their benchmarks shows a clear advantage of having 4 cores instead of 2.

But if they used Cubase and if Cubase has such poor performance on Mac would'nt that make the PCs numbers much better ? Still don't make sense to me.

It's funny, they name Apple, which now is a mere PC running a different OS than XP but don't name the XP laptop.
Is it a VAIO, a Toshiba or some piece of crap put together by some 6 year old in China??

not 2 x 2.16ghz cores againsi 4x 2.5ghz cores wth 1mb L2 cache EACH. even if cubase isnt as well optimized on mac (people say it performs roughly about 20% better on pc) the four cores in this test would MORE than make up for that!

it's not like the G5 is a wimpy chip or anything remember..its just that it runs hot and needs a lot of power and is noisy to cool.

But the original question was why an identical computer can run twice as many plugins with OSX than it can running XP.

For those numbers to make sense they must have tested the OSX 2x2.16 with Logic and the G5 with Cubase and the XP 2x2.16 with Cubase. That just don't make any sense to me.

But then the whole test don't make sense to me.The least they should have done is to state what host(s) were used,soundcard,latency etc.

The whole deal smells a bit fishy to me.
