Hey all,
Newbie here. I've been reading everyone's posts for a while, and you've been amazingly helpful. For once, I can't find my issue directly. (Maybe haven't looked hard enough?)
In either case, I'm using FL Studio 6,and can't seem to drag a wave file *from* the FPC or the DirectWave into GURU or Battery2. For that matter I can't drag from the FL browser into GURU or Battery. Am I just *that* dumb?
Thanks in advance.

i don't think it possible the drag and drop wav file from a fruity plugin to a vst plugin the drag and drop work only with FL-Studio plugin if you need to load a wav file in either guru or battery2 you need to follow the instruction to load them directly in the plugin themself.
But it is possible to drag and drop wav between sampler to sampler, slicer to sampler, sampler to 3xOsc and slicer to to 3xOsc

Drag and drop only works for plugins that support drag and drop, this is not limited to the built in generators. For instance you can drop samples into sfz inside FL. Pretty sure it's dependent on the plugins ability to handle drag and drop from explorer because it most likely works the same way.

In order to achieve this, the plugins from where you're trying to move samples, needs to implement OLE Drag&Drop 'source' functionality, as far as i know, I guess these you mention only are OLE Drag&Drop registered targets (FPC & DirectWave).Hey all,

I guess is uncommon, as you usually will drag elements into the samplers as target, from a main browser in your host app (like FL Studio case), a sound editor, explorer, whatever, but is not usual between samplers.

As I had feared. Ah well. The (FL)browser function is so convenient to be able to drop files from it into the FPC and Directwave, I had hoped I'd be able to drag files from said browser into BAttery and GURU as well. Only problem is, I'm pretty sure you can drag files from EXPLORER windows into both Battery and Guru, just haven't been able to achieve this directly from FLs browser.arguru wrote:In order to achieve this, the plugins from where you're trying to move samples, needs to implement OLE Drag&Drop 'source' functionality, as far as i know, I guess these you mention only are OLE Drag&Drop registered targets (FPC & DirectWave).

I could always 'explore folder' in FL then drop from the resulting explorer window into said third-party drum plug-ins. Maybe I'm just spoiled and lazy. It's the software revolution's fault.
As far as dragging from DirectWave, to Kontakt, or vice versa, I'll assume it can't be done. (Without exporting, of course. There's that lazy thing again.)
Thanks for the help everyone!

FL doesnt support Drag and drop the way it should..
case in point, BFD you cant drag and drop midi files from it as of FL 6 --
Gol really needs to fix this.

After replying to this I tried out a bunch of plugins that support dnd and only half seemed to work within FL. Some displayed errors about not being able to pass certain information and some just didn't respond.
Things like this make me wonder if it's the host not conforming to some standard way of doing things or the plugins.

FL supports an older type of drag and drop.
when BFD, for instance, updated to a newer form of DnD, a "better" one, it wouldnt drag and drop into FL.
I spoke to Skot @ fxpansion about it, and he said there was no point in going backwards for a host that wouldnt adapt...
and he's right
FL needs to update its drag and drop system!!!!

I'm ALMOST sold on FL despite being scared that adapting is something the programmer(s) are slow to do. I'm proficient in two of the 'major' audio/sequencing programs, (Cubase and Sonar) but when it comes to hashing out ideas quickly, I tend to lean towards the 'Virtual Racks'. (Reason, and recently FL) It's all about workflow features, and most importantly, FUN! I should start another post. Hope to see you there, and thanks again all, for all your help.
