Tera 3 at the moment. Very good sound, very versatile does lots of things very well but is still easy to use for the features it offers.

Vaz Modular came a close second but its not as easy to use overall.

String Studio for its great string emulations, and expressive playability, and Zebra2 for its vast sonic palette. I can't pick between them at the moment

Toxic. It does pretty much all I need. It's a FAT V/A with FM and you can load your own waveforms.

Atmosphere. My first VST and still my fave.

Quite limited, of course, compared to some, but a doddle to knock up beautiful sounds and some of the most wonderful preset sounds a chap could want for - well... this chap anyway.

Keep meaning to buy Albino though as the demo makes me want more and to fiddle about!

M1. Because it is an absolute great sounding synth for all genres... :)

FLStudio - 24 Synths - 6 Effects - I am crazy

Z3ta+
Even though it sounds digital to the extreme to my ears.
The Pro5 is a very close second, I think both Vst's compliment each other very well though.

The Z3ta+ imo is a misunderstood Vst due to the strange interface, obviously there's a learning curve involved but it becomes rewarding once you get your head around it.
As for the Pro5, well its very much a what you see is what you get kind of synth but I just love the unique sounds it generates with a little tweaking.

The one that accomplishes the task.....

This is not an easy question to answer as it really depends on what I am doing. I have a LOT of VSTi's but if I have to mention just a few:

1. Microtonic
The Microtonic is just SOOO inspiring to use. The randomize function and the sound itself is breathtaking.

2. Absynth3
This synth is the best when it comes to athmospheric sounds and evolving pads. Period.

3. impOSCar.
Well .. I just started using it again. And the sound is outstanding and fits perfectly in a mix. Again - depending on the style I am working with when I load it.

It's really not possible for me to mention one. It's even hard to stop now having mentioned three :-)

BFD + Jazz&Funk

best drumsound ever... love it

i would have to go with rhino

just for the quality of its sound and the quality of the layered transparent sounds that daniel's presets bring

(but I have to say Absynth and biomechanoid work runs a very very close 2nd -- if Absynth could do an e-piano as well as rhino -- and I'm sure it could given the proper attention and waveform, it would be a tie. absynth can do a nice thuddy bass, while rhino generally lacks that bottom end except for the moog banks)

I'm a sucker for wide lush etheral pads, and digging into FM7 can reveal some truly gorgeous sounds. Being a NI fanboy I'd say reaktor and Pro-53 gives my top 3.. :hihi:

Mr Fence sitter :D

Ok, lets rephrase the question.
What is your desert Island vst?

I know she's not a VST instrument, strictly speaking, but that's kinda irrelevant when you look into her eyes.

This will sound silly, but if I wanted an all around super synth I would just buy FL Studio and load it as a VST for This reason.

not really a VST instrument (although a VST plugin) but definitely the one that changed my life is Mobius by Jeff Larson.
it's a real time looper (like: Gibson EDP, Electrix Repeater etc.) and a live audio manipulator - simply a dream come true to me.

I also like Reaktor and Pluggo.
