I saw that too. THe price doesn't look too bad - I think I'm going to ditch the idea of getting a MacBook Pro and get a Mac Pro instead.

The Apple website is running REALLY slow here. Is anyone else experiecncing this?

I was hoping for announcements for MBPs using memroms but no such luck. Looks like I'll be getting a Dell core2duo, bye Apple!

Haha. That's a little bit out of my range! I'm probably going to be looking at the 2.66 gHz, with a gig of RAM (and add another gig from Crucial). Add hard drives when I need them.

You can get 4 * 3GHz for $3300, but M4M is throwing in $5700 of Apple certified memory (and a couple of drives and an expensive graphics card), which is way overpriced.

I just bought 2G for $200 or so, so that makes Apple's memory too expensive by a good factor of 3. Silly.

it was for the kick of building a computer that is worth more than a yer of rent(without any addon cards, jsut the drives and ram from apple)

base is 2499 us 4*2ghz, 1 gig ram, 250 gig HD

I'll still wait to se if they decide to use core2duo in the MBP, if not in one month max I'll get a MBP, if yes, i'll wait and get a core2duo

The price works out (a lot) cheaper than a 'target market' dell (you do have to take into account though that at times you can get 'coupons' that knock a lot of dells though, so bear that in mind)...not bad coming from Apple either way.

If PC manufacturers don't respond in the appropriate way though, they could be f**ked... If you build your own then it's a different story, but i'd assume the vast majority don't.

Wake up! HP & IBM have been shipping incredibly good quad-core workstations for well over a year now and with their's you're not restricted to just three different graphics cards. Even Apple have had a quad-core G5 since late last year and BOXX Technologies have an 8-core workstation that has been shipping for 6 months or so. As usual, Apple are a day late and a dollar short but you dumb-arses still fall for their marketing bullshit.

I have no interest in being called a dumb ass based on my decision on what I will buy. I don't need someone (trying to) force their (rather biased) opinions on me when I've already made my decision. Anyways, good for Dell and HP. I have no interest in those computers. Over the past year, my Dell laptop has experience some debilitating problems that others have also experienced, which Dell has made absolutely no effort in trying to aid in. I can't see how Apple's support can be worse than Dell's.

HP and IBM,does NOT run OSX.Get it.
I want a MacPro.

All new MacPros are quads!!
