if that's not glitchy, i'm not a spunyun... and i am.

I've been playing around with some stuff this weekend - I found Heizenbox to be rather difficult to wrap my head around so I don't think i'll buy it. BufferOverride is a lot of fun though.

i've found that all glitch plugins are just variations on a theme so just get dblueglitch and you'll have all you will ever need. and it's free now!

i don't really agree - i mean, of course they are similar - they ought to be, after all glitch plugins are glitch plugins. but to me it doesn't seem dblueglitch covers all ground.

edit: i mean... most synths are variations on a theme, and yet there are many differences. same thing imo...

variations, just variations.

synths... apples and oranges

dblue glitch is amazing- it's by far my favourite of the FSU programs but for specific cutting i like Livecut and Suppatrigga and dBlue isn't meant for these really twisted granular setups like BufferOverride and Heizenbox. Your host program gives you a rack of inserts to make a chain of effects, use it well by combining all these effects creatively. The best part is you don't have to use any patch cable snakes in the process too :D

you would be quite wrong.

just off the top of my head, without checking my plugins folder, glitch can't even remotely do the same thing as:

daisypusher, glitchjockey, fxlord, lost tech, scattershot, jack darks other glitch plugins, the various buffer overrides that are controllable via x/y, some of dovers other ones, some of xoxos's, the fft based dtblkfx, and then the granular ones like heizenbox and ktgranulator... that's not to say glitch doesn't have a purpose, but it is to say that it is a very different purpose than others. and i didn't even go into the reaktor based "glitching" devices, let alone the max/supercollider ones... and when you stack these plugins, you get even more variation.. an unbelievable amount of variation, actually... something purely chaotic. you CANNOT predict the outcome of just stacking a bunch of the afforementioned plugins and randomizing each instance of the various ones... even if you think you know what a plugin sounds like, once you combine it and set up randomization, you are discovering and exploring new sonic territory each and every day.

i agree with y'all, glitch plugins do it in different ways (that's the variations) but they're all just controlling a messed up 'puter sound.

happy glitchin!
