Hi
I have an annoying problem when i try to record live with my midi keyboard in Nuendo 3.2
See the thing is, when I record notes, they all end up in the beginning (i.e. at a bar where I started the recording). To my surprise, I dont seem to have this problem at my studio, so it must not be a bug. I tried to increase my buffer size on my M-Audio Audiophile 192 interface, but it doesnt seem to help. Any suggestions? Has anyone ever encountered similar problems?

Someone was asking the same question in Q&A of computer music magazine 2-3 issues back (I think it was the issue with the bass tutorial). Only he was using Cubase. They reported the problem to steiberg who provided a solution or workaround. If you don't have access to the issue, I can post the answer here, but not before Monday. Or maybe someone else can do it sooner, CM has many readers here. Let me know

Yeah I'm having the same problem, using Cubase!
I don't have that issue of CM so would really appreciate a post of what it said...
If that's not possible, what issue number was it?

You could also read the PDF in your "midi port enabler" subdirectory off the Cubase program directory.

Yeah but that thread in the Cubase Forum is not quite about the same thing...

If somebody could give me the ComputerMusic issue number that had that Q&A that cimoc mentioned, then I could just look that up! Cimoc? Do you know which issue number it was?

So sorry, I was asleep...

This guy is on Cubase SX and, when he records from his midi keyboard, notes snap to the beginning of the bar, piling on top of eachother. He has deactivated emulated midi ports, and tried moving Cubase's ignoreportfilter file (I seem to remember someone somewhere saying that midi timing improved when he moved this file one (or two) levels up in Cubase's folder structure). This is the answer from Steinberg:

"Ensure Cubase is updated to latest version (3.1.1.944). Launch it and select Devices>>Device Setup. Locate the midi port you are using- it will be under either DirectMusic or Windows Midi. Once you've found it make sure the Use System Time Stamp option at the bottom of the panel is ticked. Next, undo any changes made to the Ignoreportfilter setup by moving the two files back to their original location. Finally ensure that DirectX9.0c is installed- this is part of Windows Service Pack 2 installation so it should already be on your hard drive. Hopefully, your midi input will now be recorded into Cubase properly".

As you see, they don't sound too sure of it themselves. Anyway, I hope it works for you.

I don't think I was using a DirectX or Windows MIDI Port anyway, so we'll see if that solution works for me. But I'll definitely give it a try!
