Great Deal Alert: Wizooverb W2 -- $99

Hi All,

This 'verb is one of the best (has algo and convolution). The special price has been mentioned here in a few threads, but it still seems to be a "secret" to most (at least, I haven't heard hardly anyone talking about it), so I thought I'd trumpet it with its own thread.

FYI, this baby was selling not long ago for $250 at the Wizoo/ M-Audio site. (I might be wrong about M-Audio - I thought that's where I saw it). Oddly, it's still being sold at the higher prices at most retailers. But here's where you need to go:

I just got mine via UPS (free shipping too!, though that's probably U.S. only). Grab it while you can.

Buggery. I've heard this, and preferred it to any other software reverb I've heard. Sorely tempted next payday, though I wonder if chancing it with customs is worthwhile.

I saw this deal as well. I have ConvoBoy and CSR, but the winner in my $100-or-less reverb shootout was RaySpace; edging out Silverspike, SpinAudio and even MasterVerb 5.

I haven't demoed W2 but I hear a lot of people love it and its surround sibling W5.

Unfortunately, I'm broke (sort of). I plan on upgrading to Sonar 5 Producer so Perfect Space will also be in my arsenal.

What's the verdict?

In some ways yes in some ways no. I own both and they compliment each other well. convolution reverbs and algorithm reverbs are two different beasts. When i want transparency, realizm and very natural sound i go to wizoo, when i want color,character and high end smoothness i go to CSR. They differ in many ways but at the end of the day each are great at what they do and compliment the other well! If you can afford both i'd advise you to get both, if you can only afford one then it depends on what your music needs the most as far as their nature goes.

CSR can go that long and longer, wizoo and all convolution reverbs are highly dependent on the IR library you have and acquire. So if you can find that type of impulse response then wizoo can do it.

I was thinking of saving for CSR with my crossgrade, but I may spring on this for the price. I just wish I new the better sounding one.

Yeah, and I notice they use UPS: I was dinged $70 by them for my EMU 1212m card on top of shipping costs! So that could get really expensive, really quickly.
