Hello,
With the new update 2.04 i crash Cubase once in awhile when i open Rhino, anybody else experiencing?
I have no problems with other VST's.
If Cubase crashes it is like poof everything gone! No screen only back too windows desktop, as if cubase is does not excist anymore.

Never use that one. Since it crashes Cubase i think the standalone is not able to crash Cubase because it stands alone. Or is that too simple thinking?Big Tick wrote:Does the standalone version work ok ?
But tonight i had it again. I'm sorry i don't have more info for you. I'm definately sure others must have the same problem too. Why only with Rhino.

No it won't crash cubase, but it'll indicate if Rhino fails because of some configuration of your system, or because of Cubase.
Does it happen with any specific action ? or preset ?

I doubt if there are any problems with my system it is not the first system i have made. I'm not a computer novice. And again it is only happening with Rhino for the rest the system is rock solid. I can run many VSTi's simultanuously for along time without any problems.Big Tick wrote:No it won't crash cubase, but it'll indicate if Rhino fails because of some configuration of your system, or because of Cubase.

Also Cubase only crashes when opening Rhino, if it does not crash i can play Rhino without problems.

Funny, Rhino works fine here with Cubase SX 3.telephone wrote: I doubt if there are any problems with my system it is not the first system i have made. I'm not a computer novice. It's not you, your system, or Rhino by themselves that are causing the problem.
It's some of the possible million and one interaction factors that cannot all possibly be tested for by a developer.
But then you'd know this if you were as experienced as you think you are!
Instead of being so defensive, just try working with Big Tick-he does know a thing or two about Rhino!

Ιf you need help, you must give more information, especially to the developer, and trust him to help, he won't solve your problem by magic, rather by troubleshooting. Try what he says, even if you "know" it's not THE solution, it might be pointing him to the right direction.
Does standalone Rhino work?
Do previous versions of Rhino work?
Have you tried things such as reinstalling?
Do you have this problem with other hosts?
Is it completely random, or maybe when you use a combination of plugins?
Etc etc
The more you give, the more help you shall get.
Maybe OT, a few months ago I had Cubase poofing, the conclusion was that my soundcard did not like MOST (though not all) of my plugins, although I had been using this card prior to the poofs for almost 6 months without problems. I ended up changing soundcards. Go figure.....

If you can't beat your computer at chess, try kick-boxing.

On a lighter side, in greek language we have two epressions that fit the stituation perfectly:
a) Take an egg and cut it's hair
b) milk rabbits and cut the hair of turtles
Good luck!

I have tried the standalone version opened and closed it several times nothing happened.
The specific action is when i open Rhino in the VST slot panel, when clicking on Rhino poof!
Cubase gone.
It might me be that i opened Rhino when a project is running in the background. Could that be the reason, i will try and look if that is the reason and let you know.

I have tried with a running song opening and closing Rhino as VST and after say ten times it is poof. The same test with no song running the same result.
The same result with opening Rhino from within EnergyXT as a VST in Cubase. After 5 times opening poof. It could also happen after only 1 time opening of Rhino.

To be sure it is not a bug in the cubase saved project file, create a new cubase project with rhino as a vst and try to crash it.
