Hello to all.

I need a "string quartet" sound for a client's song.

The client (pro keyboard player) owns the Vienna Symphonic Library, operating it on a Mac.

He brought over to the studio the vast VSL sample collection.

My question is, how do we load the sounds (to be processed or to select which one to use) on a PC?

Is there a quick way to do such thing or it will take us ages?

Maybe the best way is for me to buy VSL for Windows?

My workstation runs under Windows XP, Cubase SX3.

Thanx in advance,

X.

Which files do you have?

If its aif files, then I cant see it being a problem, given that you have the original Mac program files. Maybe you could nip onto the VSL forum and ask for the XP program files?

If you have Giga files, then that might be more of a problem. Im not sure if the Mac ones are easily convertable into PC.

You really should ask this at Northern Sound Source instead. Highend orchestral libraries is their focus, while most KVR memebers are starving young guns that can't even afford most softsynths under $100.

The original VSL files on disk come in 2 formats - Gigastudio (PC only) and EXS24 (mac only)

For the Kontakt upgrade (which would run on either) you'd need to shell out some extra cash (~10% of the orignal retail price).

It depends on which sampler you're running. Also, if you got Kontakt you could attempt to convert the gig files on the disk. Not sure how HALion would do with them.

Noticed I said "most" not "all." That means I purposely left room for exceptions like yourself.
