So I've had a chance to test out the new & improved Dune Delay. I'm really impressed with the new look and some of the changes. But it could be just me, but I still find this plugin a little confusing. You're doing great work, Atom, I'd just like to point out some things I don't understand about it.
  1. the first "Dune Delay" - can you tempo sync this? It doesn't appear so, and one kind of expects it to be, as this is kind of the main feature, no? Maybe I'm missing something?
  2. There is a tempo sync for the DD gate, but this doesn't seem to be terribly useful as it creates clicks and just sounds messy with a non-tempo synced Dune Delay.
  3. The Delay 2 has tempo sync, but, well, it doesn't seem to work very well, and I don't understand what the L&R Time data are supposed to represent. If you're using tempo-synced times, wouldn't beat signatures or notes make more sense? What exactly is "0.22" at 120bpm? What does it mean if one is at "0.22" and the other is at "0.47"? With tempo sync on, making changes to Delay 2's time doesn't seem to result in tempo-synced delays. It seems quite random.
  4. Maybe I'm dumb and I just don't get it, but what's the "Sample Rate" drop down for? Why would I want to use this?
OK, enough bitching. This is a very cool effect, and I will be using it, even if I don't fully understand it. One thing that I really like is the Chorus! This is one of the best-sounding VST choruses out there, I kid you not! Insert this on a piano or guitar, turn off everything else and mix in some of this chorus, and you got yourself a perfect sound! I don't know if that's a default SM module or what, but it's outstanding!

Is there a manual for this or did I miss it?

All in all, excellent job, Atomsplitter. Great plug, glad to own it. :tu:

Me like but full product isn't working in ACID 6. Strangely, the demo does work.

When I open the full product in ACID 6 the gui doesn't display. If I pull the FX window out of ACID the gui is displayed but it can't be edited.

Like I say, the demo worked fine... :?

1. it can't right now, and when i started helping with the plug i asked for it too.

2. agreed, it needs a smooth function added. what happens is the gate is being engaged on non zero-crossings. i talked to dan(atomsplitter) already about this and he is going to see about adding a smoothing function which will snap the gate to engage at the nearest zero-crossing.

3. i was confused initially too duffy, and for much of the same reason. basically delay 2 is temposync'd when the button is pressed. the l time and r time values are offsets to the musical value you have set via BPM. i think anyway ;)

4. the sample rate adjusts the speed of the second delay, if running at say 44.1khz in host, 22.1khz sample rate for delay 2 means it can achieve 2 times slower relative to control adjustment, 66, 88, etc, all varying degrees of speed of processing. i think anyway (again) ;)

no manual yet. no audio demos yet. still having fun though? it's quite a lot of fun.

i found a way to REALLY murder the audio is by setting scale to 0 and tenths of a point. sounds hip when used on a nice paddy synth ;)

thanks for the report for sure!

Hi everyone, thanks for the support :) munchkin i think i sent you a email about this (could have been someone else) if you did not get it for some reason PM me your email address and i will post you what i said again. The full version has been tested in acid6 and works fine.

bduffy i will try to reply as best as i can -

1. No due to the way i made the main delay (Dune Delay) you cannot tempo sync it thats why i made the second delay so you could get it to run better with tempo.

2. The gate effect cuts the audio like this |_| |_| |_ so it can create clicks, this is something i noticed myself so in a future version i will be adding a button/option to smooth the audio so it's more like \_/ \_/ \_ in shape and will then not click as much.

3. Basically what grymmjack said :) And setting the L and R times differently is basically just a way to make ping pong like delays where it hits to the left/right before the second hit starts.

4. The dropdown is just another way to speed up the delay, probably something i should remove maybe as it's not really needed.
All in all, excellent job, Atomsplitter. Great plug, glad to own it
Many thanks, im happy that you like the update :D

Grymmjack and Atomsplitter:

Thanks for clearing everything up, just wanted to get more information on it. So, obviously, still a work in progress. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and thoroughly! As always, looking forward to any updates. I think for now I'll keep experimenting and finding it's meaning...and use it as a chorus!

Atom - that chorus: why does it sound so good???

Indeed the chorus sounds really good. I use it on acoustic guitar and like it very much.

i want to offer a formal apology for any login/membership inconsistencies you may have had regarding the website. as i stated i built it rapidly and didn't have time to test it as much as i'd have liked. i report to you now though that i have tested every aspect of it, and it should all be automatic. once you order, paypal integration i've coded will automatically give you access to the product, you will automatically recieve the correct membership credentials in email, and you never have to worry again.

there were a few bugs that i killed this morning regarding the db/paypal integration. so sorry for that. future products/orders wont have this difficulty it is only during this initial transitional phase will this be a problem, so when more products are released you can rest assured that everything will go without a hitch.

admittedly, it was my first time integrating paypal, so it was bound to happen.

once again, please accept my apologies. the problems are corrected. thanks!

If you have just ordered through the new system using this current website, you are exempt from the following so please ignore it. The below message is for our old customers from the osCommerce store which was setup prior to the new/current system.
My original purchase of DuneDelay2.04 was two days ago...I did, however, need to resubmit my data. Not a big deal at all, just thought you should know...maybe everyone, not just the older customers, should check their login data?
Thanks for the plugin and, yes, the chorus sounds great... :)

Grymmjack, your trespasses are unforgiveable, you selfish bastard.

----Big new update of Synthmaker, does that mean there'll be a new version of Dune Delay to take advantage of the optimizations and wiring abilities ? :)
