In search for a FREE sequencer/midi editor.

I don't really know what I'm looking for, but i think it's basically a free version of cubase. Just switched into pro tools and sold my cubase, but i found it pretty unintuitive the way you work with midi inside pro tools (could be that i don't know how to use it), are there any free cubase like program out there? Or any sequencer with VSTi capabilities?

I don't know about free Cubase-like programs, as you put it - perhaps I'm misreading your comments, but if you've just sold Cubase and you're now using Pro-tools you must surely have a few spare bucks to spend on something that suits you?

LUNA FREE is an alternative audio and midi sequencer supporting VST instruments and effects.

Though LUNA is still in a pre-release stage, it's already very usable as a basic sequencer/host!

Oh wow, i had no idea Luna is the same sequencer as Computer Music's CM Studio sequencer included in the DVD.
If i would've known that i would be $20 richer!

Oh, and to the OP, if you have $50, you can get Energy XT which alot of Cubase users have switched to. The demo is fully functional with the exception you can't reload songs. SO try it out as you save those pennies.

Otherwise, Luna would be your best bet.

Being a mac guy here I only know Luna from the above list.
Would appreciate anyone's quick ratings of the above list - i.e. which ones are best for multitrack audio editing / MIDI - and are they all better than Audacity ?

i bookmark just about everything, especially if it is sound related.

i don't know many of the differences myself about the sequencers as i use cubase for sequencing and plugin hosting while using audacity for audio editing.
