hello, I am currently using FL Studio for my production and was interested in learning a bit about trackers. I dabbled some with Psycle/created a few patterns. I am open to any suggestions for Tracker software. Something I can work with but at the same time not be too limited.... I hope this makes sense. Thanks. Im trying to make a smooth transition from a step sequencer to tracker, although i am very new to trackers. thanks

Why are you moving to trackers? What style of music do you produce? (I'm a newbie FL user myself)

Currently, I think the most powerful and easiest to use Tracker is Renoise. You can find out more information about it at http://www.renoise.com

The demo is fully functional, save for ASIO support and highest quality mixdown. Definitely check it out.

check out Buzz for sure!! www.buzzmachines.com - it's totally free and has hundreds of free machine plugins..!

being limited imv isnt that bad starting off.. makes learning a lot easier when you only have so many options with which to work..

though buzz and renoise would be my picks, too, for full featured tracker...

+1 for Renoise. I started using it exclusively a couple of months ago, and I'm pretty impressed. Sounds clear and punchy, as good as any sequncer. I changed from a Live and Reason combo and haven't looked back since

I gather that you've abandoned psycle then ? If so, you must consider that buzz has not been developed for a few years, despite the fact that plugins are still being developed for it. There are currently no plans to continue development of buzz in the future - great shame. Therefore, you might encounter significant stability problems using buzz. Renoise sounds like an interesting alternative.

What impresses me about Renoise besides the app itself is how well they manage the product and the Web Site itself.

One more vote for Renoise. Used to be my main host for quite a while as it's very well organized and implemented. Now I use it more to mangle loops and sequences, as I'd fallen in love with energyXT, but Renoise is still the best tracker around. How I'd love to see Renoise VSTi to use inside eXT...

Couldn`t agree more Paulie, this would be the perfect way to use the two together for me, and pretty much most of my major feature requests for both answered.

Anyhow vote for renoise from here also.

I agree... +1 for RENOISE

Renoise and Buzz have been my 2 primary composing tools for quite some time. In fact, I don't even use Modplug, Skale, or Impulse anymore, as Renoise and Buzz make most other trackers redundant.

Renoise has fewer drawbacks and quirks than any of the other progs I've ever used.

Buze is the most promising buzz-clone in existence, in my (and others') opinion, and the dev seems to be doing a good job so far. This thing'll load buzz machines natively, and once it has all of buzz's options it should be great, mostly because the original buzz source-code is lost, so development isn't just not being considered, it's impossible.

i like "RMT - Raster Music Tracker" -- strictly for its sound.
