Waves in XT2

At the moment it is not possible to use the Waves plug-ins in XT without the use of a DX to VST wrapper program, such as FFx-4.
Is this gonna change in XT2?

How come? Waves plugins come with their own wrapper, just load Waveshell-VST.dll which should reside in your VST folder in eXT and choose the plugin you want
. If Jorgen had the time, he could implement loading Waves' wrapper in eXT and recognising Waves plugins like other apps do, so we could load any Waves plugin with one click and not two, that would be nice. Also, you have to rename them every time you load a Waves plugin, because the name defaults to "Waveshell-VST" be it EQ, Reverb or anything else.
Cheers!

Doesn't work, for some reason. But, since it works in every other vst-host program, a genius like Jorgen would probably have no problem fixing it.DuX wrote:How come? I don't use Waves myself, but at work I do it all the time. Just load Waveshell-VST.dll in eXT, it will give you a list of Waves plugins, choose one and that's it. You'll have to do it every time you want to use any of the Waves plugins and It works 100%. You must be doing something wrong. Maybe you don't have Waveshell-VST.dll in the VST folder. If you don't, you have to copy it youself from the Waves folder to your VST folder, however, by default, Waves installation copies it in your default VST folder. If by any chance you dont have it, you can always download it from Waves, just look for Waveshell.

For me, their wrapper works fine. I don't need another one. btw. Cubase loads it [Waveshell-VST.dll] by default and that's why you can see Waves plugins as DX and VST plugins in Cubase or Nuendo. That's what they [Steinberg] call "Waves VST plugins support"
. It was a big feature request at the time, no shit and what it does is just loads BF Waveshell.dll
.
What's the difference between DX and VST Waves, except that they load sam dlls, actually? VST consumes a bit [a tad BIT!] less CPU and DX hav DX automation.
I had no problems whatsoever with DX or VST Waves so far, at work, and that's a long long time. They were some graphical glitches at the time...
At home, working for myself, I wouldn't touch them with a 10m pole
. I think they're waste of money, except for R-Series. I just don't like them, except for RCL, REQ and RVerb. R-series is quite good, I must admit, and very usable. Workhorse plugins - that's why we use them professionally, except for the thing that everbody's heard of them [even the most moronish customers], like DigiDesign... it sucks.
Cheeers!

Dux What don't you like about them?
I love the L2!
But I like to pump

Maybe I don't like the fact that I can't afford them?
Mostly that. Besides, personally, I'd always rather spend the money on Kjaerhus and Voxengo stuff. I simply like the guys, the support and everything... I think you can understand that
. Especially if you come here often as I do.
I don't like L2 either
. No pumping here. Everything K-14 or K-12 at the most here. At work... well, you know
[slam, bang, boom...]

DuX,
Actually, I can use the Waveshell-VST.dll in eXT. One time. The problem is that the program doesn't save the waveshell settings, only the fact that there is a waveshell in the project. This means that I have to manually open every plugin, and remember its settings, every time I reload a project. Since I'm not Rainman, I stick to the FFx-4.

There was many threads about this some time ago, jorgen knows all that already and said that EXT will support Waveshell. Now when is the question: i think that EXT2 would be a good opportunity err...

Hmmmm I wasn't aware of eXT not saving Waveshell settings... that's a serious issue which renders Waves in eXT unusable, yep.
