if you mean trashy sounds surely, but as I don't like that I'll let someone else experience with FM/pulse and see if it gives useful results.

You had an offer for a free blowjob and dismissed it!tony tony chopper wrote:Sytrus (which can do EVERYTHING a 3xosc does) can output 9*2*6=108 osc per voice (for 6% CPU usage on my AMD 3500, or more depending on how diff shapes fit in the cache)If tony tony chopper makes me a 48xOsc
I never bought Sytrus though and I'm somewhat stint at the moment

Hi, I'd like a copy of this. The link has expired though..bryanf wrote:tony tony, here's a copy of the virus arp sequence done note for note.

Hmm.. I'm a bit baffled by these reactions. IMHO it's not even close. The phasing is very close to the original but everything else is way off.crimsontider wrote:you nailed itgsoto wrote:Great thread!
Here is my attempt with Xhip on the Virus sound:

It was not a competition of "who sounds phattest" but "who gets closest to the original". The original clip is MUCH softer. It's short notes are much more "gentle" which means that the xhip clips envelope is way off, mainly the shape itself, especially the attack.
Anybody with the virus, could you actually post a clip without any FX? That would make this a whole lot more interesting.
Cheers!

Anybody got the original .mid clip for the arp? I do not have the patience to try to recreate that by ear.. the original link to it has expired.
Cheers!

Thank you. Much apreciated!
These kind of challenges are very good practise for the ear and programming skills. It's the music technology equivalent of Solfege in classic music theory.
Cheers!

There's something seriously, badly wrong when you need to use 48 oscillators (or however many hundreds it was) to create that vanilla sound.
I can think of several simple 2 oscillator VA synths (VST and/or h/w) where you can create that sound, or close enough to it.
It's like the "how much limiting can I squeeze onto my track" race. Only now it's "how many oscillators can I use on a synth and make the same sound." It's bizarre.
2 oscillators/48 oscillators and no great difference to the sound. Or you all taking the piss or something? I really can't believe some of you are taking this seriously...if you need to use 48 oscillators to make that type of patch, you need to put more effort into learning how to patch synths IMO.
