Hi.
I'm considering buying a PT LE just for using the Sony Oxford Inflator and the Limiter. A PoCo was the other option but the Limiter is not yet available for the PoCo platform.
So probably I will buy the MBox2.
The question is: will PT LE run if the MBox2 is not connected? Can it be authorised via iLok not to depend on the hardware?
And, if none of the above is possible, will PT LE run on other interface with the MBox2 connected at the same time? I'm considering a RME Fireface800 and I would likely to use its converters and ave th MBx just as a dongle.
Thanks.

Protools only runs with Digidesign (or M-audio if using M-powered) hardware. Certain plugins need the iLok.
I say its not worth the money, if you don't actually want to use Protools as your main DAW. However Digidesign hardware will work well with any other audio program, I have a 002R and it is excellent.

It iss intended for use only with the Sony plugs for mastering together with PSP Neon HR and MasterComp. Will use WaveBurner after that only for burning the masters.
So you're saying that your 002R works good with other daws, no latency problems, cliks/pops etc?

LE will not start or run without the MBox. It has no dongle. PT LE will not recognize the RME device. The only way to use its converters would be to run ins to the RME and somehow out and back in the MBox, giving you two channels in at a time total.

M-Powered requires both the dongle and M-Audio hardware or it will not run.

All hosts have some latency, but the 002(and Mbox2) uses an ASIO driver, so there is adjustable latency.

Thanks for the replies.

Host don't have latencies, it's an audio driver thing ;)

So , you say it works fine with its ASIO driver (does it come with ASIO drivers, or CoreAudio)?

Post

Yes, it comes with ASIO drivers. Or you can use CoreAudio if you wish.

My host is better than your host

That's very good, thanks.

Nono, hosts add their own latency! I can notice the timing difference betweeen MiniHost and Tracktion. Small, but it's there!
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
