I REALLY love the sounds that come out from this plug...expecially the kind of delay modulation ones.
Sadly My crazy friend Ivan is difficult to control and tame.
Does it exist something that sounds close to it but more controllable/predictable?

im going to go on a tangent and give you more information than you ask for but i don't feel like posting a new thread so i'll just give people in general some cool suggesstions pertaining to this theme.
if you are speaking of purely vst utilities, I'll reccomend some non modular stuff (no max, reaktor, sc, chuck, csound ect). I would reccomend Modismaster, Daisypusher (both normal and XL, although normal does more similar things to ivan) and some of jack darks... Use modismaster to send some random CCS (or use another VST LFO) to some parameters, and then use a midi controller to alter parameters which are modulated by it. This will give you the affect of Ivan's fluctuations while also imposing a sense of control.. I would reccomend the jack dark plugins before the signal chain of daisypusher, and then using modismaster or the lfo on them, then controlling daisypusher. Use your imagination. Use CC automation envelopes drawn in your host on certain parameters while also tweaking them. Check out the glitch plugin thread and make signal chains.
If you want to give some more control to crazy ivans sound, put a plugin after it in the signal chain and tweak that using midi control.
Automating or randomizing values of bufferoverride and also arcdev cyclotron can yield similar results.
Running Crazyivan through buffer overrun/cyclotron will give you a good amount of control over the signal and you can do some interesting intuitive control patterns on the X/Y, syncing to the fluctuations in crazy ivan.
On a bit more of a tangent, because you are sacrificing some control for interactivity, using Modismaster sent to the CC which affects crazyivan's built in randomization option is alot of fun. Try it out. Hell, try 5 instances of modismaster set at different values and ranges of randomization sent to different settings of crazyivan, and then control the range setting and amount setting of modismaster with a gesutral midi control. That way you can harness the randomization of crazy ivan, controlling it, while simultaniously making it more "crazy'! A fun thing to do is to use Modismaster (one copy) sending both midi to CrazyIvan, which is sent through a Lost Technoloy THAT IS BEING MODULATED BY THE SAME MODISMASTER. So you have one set of ccs going to ivan controlling the randomization values and also some of the normal CCs, and you have those same CCs controlling settings of lost technology. The rhythmic syncage between the two interacting parameter sets and also between the randomization of crazy ivan will produce very very strange fluctuations that somehow make sense and are not completely random. Good to tempo sync. Also, try using a host (energyXTs) built in randomization settings or even preset blend/breed on lost technology to impose some user controllable fluctuations (with range settings), and you have a fun time party brigade which is interactive (not controllable). Using a modular host like energyXT really is best as you have alot of controlled midi routings from the modismasters, or other midi lfo, but modismaster is probably best, unless you want a pure waveform, of course.
Then, I will go a little deeper into some stuff you can do with that setup. Use a randomID, which is a random note generator with CC controllable features, also being modulated by the same modismaster which is altering lost technology and crazy ivan (which is going into lost technology). Then, load a cool synth. Send one copy of the audio of this synth to the lost technology, send one copy to the crazy ivan, send one copy to the daisypusher, or whatever, whatever else you have. Doesn't have to be all your plugins, but it helps. Now, send the randomid's midi to that synth. Now, connect the midi output of your modismasters to the randomID, and have it modify the settings. It again will "sync" (VERY VERY LOOSELY IS THE TERM SYNC USED. IT MAKES SENSE TO THE COMPUTER, THOUGH.) with the controlled parameter randomization of the FSU plugins. Send a normal midi from your midi controller to the synth, and control it. If you want, you can even send the Modismaster's CCs to the synth and control it more. Keep in mind even when using energyXT you will have to manually set the CCs to various parameters so it can affect them, but that won't take long at all. Be creative. There's more stuff you can do with this type of modular routing setup utilizing psuedorandom generators controlling multiple plugins. Be creative. Download as many effects as you can and try making ridiculous beasts out of them. The glitch plugin thread has good suggestions.
You will need a fairly decent CPU to do this. My 64 3200+ singlecore can do it with about 70-80 CPU usage, and that's only a 90ish dollar chip.
The modismaster becomes the master, literally. Add in gestural control of all these plugins in addition to the modismaster. Add in more than one synth, or add in drums, route their audio to the same modulated plugins, or even just send them straight to the master output thru no FSU, if with drums, this gives you a stronger sense of defined percussive rhythm, while being controlled by the randomID. On drums, sometimes an LFO works better than a Modismaster modulating the randomid's parameters, so it is less random. Although, purely random (range specified) drums can be nice too. So can both CC LFO and modismaster going to the same randomID., if it doesnt go thru any fsus, and send different modismaster outputs to the different synths/drums (to the ccs). thanks for the useful info...the modimaster thing seems great! I also heard lots of good things about FX lord, I have to give it a spin.

How can rich musicians ignore all these amazing technological advances we try to cobble together from junk gear?
Our VST devs are too far ahead of the hardware!
