I've just put up on my website Voice Trap V2.0. It's a free upgrade for registered Voice Trap users.
There are two new features:
- I've developed a complete new separation engine. Cepstral liftering (yes it's a weird term, no it's not a spelling mistake) is an advanced mathematical technique for identifying and modifying harmonically rich groups of frequencies, in a way that cannot be achieved with FFT-based center-channel techniques alone.
BTW, "cepstrum" is an anagram of "spectrum", and "lifter" is an anagram of "filter". Oh those crazy mathematicians! (I'm not making this up...)
In practice, combining the two methods means that vocal suppression and isolation is even more effective, particularly on "problem" tracks where the vocal has stereo ambience.
I'm not aware of any other vocal suppression and isolation plugins that use cepstral liftering. - The Centre Width and Phase Window controls now each have an associated "profile" control that allows both the center channel width and associated phase window to vary according to frequency.
ciao,
Trevor Magnusson
