I dont think many EXT users have Waves tho. But just because of that, we cant ignore the ones that DO have 'em.
thanks
Finish XT2, get the linux version up and running nicely with jack. Then you can take a guess as to wether I'm gonna root for waves-support. HiHi
Some of us use them and have posted this feature request since a long time. There wasn't then any speak of linux osx and whatever other OS.
But you can have your opinion thanks.

Jorgi-
Waves Support would be very nice, but personally I wouldn't mind if it is added after the initial XT2 release.

I'd vote for Waves support first.

The free DX wrapper will hold me over until after I can play with XT2 for a bit. :)

It wouldn't be bad to support Waveshell as I would like to introduce eXT to the "Waves-head" crowd I know. I know they'd whine about eXT not supporting it. Actually, everybody I know uses Waves bundle of some kind, R-bundle and musicians bundle being most popular. It's incredible. I personally think they've been surpassed by others IMO, and as I said I'd never buy them for my personal use [also, I hate dongles and have none], but nevertheless they're workhorse plugins and do their job adequately at every place I work in, because every "pro" place has them. They like to have a "standard" of some kind and they chose "Waves" years ago. I can only say - it's easier that way. I know what it's like when someone comes with a project that uses "other" plugs... :D. It's a mess then.

So yes, in order for eXT to be a "pro" app, you have to support Waveshell, although if you ask me - I don't care :hihi:, purely personally, of course. "Wavesheads" usually can't stand something other than Cubase/Nuendo/Logic/ProTools anyway.

Cheers!

Thank you. Although I don't recall asking your permission to form my own opinion.

Nor do I quite understand why a software author that sells his program for €39 should bother jumping through hoops to support plugins from a company that charges $3800 for one of their bundles and $200 up for a feature limited subset. Even if the current US administration has largely hosed the US economy the dollar isn't really all that low.
It isn't all that hard to make vst-plugs either, and they CAN be laced with Pace, so the waveshell idiocy is probably just a way of saving on the Pace/iLok license.
Oh and did you notice that ext doesn't require an iLok? I don't know if Jorgen has one, but he would need it to test Waves' plugs and he'd need the latter too, I'm afraid. I'm sure Waves are nice enough to provide him with an iLok, if he shells out (pun intended) $3800+VAT for the diamond bundle... he'd only need to sell about a hundred licenses of ext to cover that, not accounting for other expenses he might have, living for instance...

...that is the question :D. A really good one.

Don't know really. I've only been using the plugins in a chain on the master.

I don't want to sound harsh here but i just find annoying in most forums when you open an FR thread almost immediatly a lot of people jump in and reply with no! no! not this i prefer chocolate. And me and me i wand jam first etc. Is it so difficult to open YOUR f**** FR thread and ask kindly what you need? Let the thing run and see the popularity of your FR. So here you prefer linux, that's cool for you ok, but then open your thread and ask for it.
Thanks.

For now (and just for now) how about downloading reaper? You can load the waves effects in reaper, and use rearoute from Energy-xt to reaper to access those effects. I think you can run both ext AND reaper standalone at the same time using rearoute.

Fortunately I don't have to, it's already on the horizon. Nice to see you are able to get your point across using asterisks instead of swearwords. I would like to point out something for you in return: your request actually belongs on whatever forum Waves are providing. They use the VST logo on their wares, ergo they should provide full compability with VST-enabled hosts. Period.

Actually we don't agree on some insignificant details of the life. No trouble about that.

But let me have also my opinion in my FR thread:
for me and i hope some other EXT users i would love to have EXT support Waves.(<-that's the request..) AND not necessarily Waves changing their waveshell. That's why i ask that here and not on the Waves forum.

Thanks for bumping the thread !!!

Dramsenik and for ALL waves/other effects users :
Follow these steps to get Waves working with your existing Ext setup. I just tested this setup with a freebie effect and it works perfectly.

1). Download reaper. Waves is reported to work perfectly fine with Reaper.

2). Start Energy-XT. Without changing anything, start Reaper. In Energy-XT, press SETUP. In the audio driver drop down box, choose REAROUTE.

3). Select the Rearoute Inputs (for now, let it be input 1 and input 2), and rearoute outputs (for now, its output 1 and output).

4). In reaper, right click and insert a track. Label the track "Dry Signal". Create another track, and label it "Wet Signal". Arm both tracks by clicking the RED oval button.

5). Right click Track 1's "I/O" button, and select Master send. Also select "Sends Track 2 : Wet Signal". In the same menu, select "Audio rearoute output --> Rearoute Channel 3 and channel 4"

6).In track 2, right click on "I/O" button and select "Recieves Track 1 : Dry Signal". Also select "AUdio hardware Output --> (your audio hardware outputs".

Now, you can insert your plugin in the Wetsignal track, and you get all the control you want. The advantages are :
You can chain many effects in one track, and save the effect chains with a simple click in reaper.
You can create just an effect send (bussing) or an insert effect, if you want.
You can put the wet signal and dry signal tracks in a track folder (to save space).
You can get individual Pan/Volume controls for each effect.
You can see how much CPU each effect is taking up.

You can maximize the reaper MIXER window such that it takes up the entire space, and use Reaper as your MIXER alone. Just route all your tracks from EXT to reaper.

Obviously, you dont have to do this everytime. Create, say, 16 tracks or how many ever you want, and label them accordingly. Save it as a reaper song. Open it whenever you're using ext. Thats all.

Hope that helps.
