I picked up my new Digidesign 002 (control surface) the other day and have been busy installing all the software that came with it. I must say I'm rapt I bought this unit and I can see it being the centrepeice of my studio for a long time to come!:)

However, I can't get Sampletank 2XL to work properly with it (nor Sonic Synth 2 for that matter!).

I've done everything as before (setting up ST2 or SS2 on a stereo aux input), and I get no audio from the plug in at all. Midi is set up correctly.

I'm on Protools LE 6.9 running OSX 10.3.9. I've got the 2.09 version of Sampletank but not sure which version of Sonic Synth 2 I'm running.

Both plug ins work perfectly within Logic Pro 7.1.1! :).

Thanks for any assistance. :)

PS- I tried ordering the ST2.1 sounds upgrade on esounds and the order could not go through using my VISA card!

Strange; we have two Digi002's here, both running 6.9, and they come with a version of SampleTank LE that works right out of the box...

I dont think I usually put instruments on a stereo aux, though. I think I just use them as a send effect on the track. I'd need to check. Oh, and do you have the track armed for recording?

Yeah I've got the MIDI track armed for recording. There is no audio from the aux track.

With my old Digi 001 running Protools LE 6.4, everything worked without a hitch.

I haven't loaded Sampletank 2SE because I already have the full version of Sampletank 2(XL) making that plug in more or less redundant at the moment.

I'm running the plugs on an aux track (in order not to waste audio tracks- remember there are only 32 of them in Protools LE) plus the manual points out that this is the proper way of running ST2 within Protools LE.

Thats not quite correct; there are 32 voices in PT LE, but up to 128 tracks. A voice is a track which is active at that point in time, if I recall, which I believe means that if you have two (mono) tracks with non-overlappting audio, then they share a single voice.

However, checking it with an audio track would at least let you narrow the problem down, no matter what your actual working practice is.

Anyways, Ive just tested it, with ST LE here, and I was able to get it working on both an Aux and normal Audio track, so Im now not quite sure what your issue is. Are you getting other audio and instruments to play properly?

Yep! All audio and other tracks are playing properly. I know all about the 128/32 voice limit but have always used an aux input for softsynths in Protools LE.

I have no problems with the plugs in Logic Pro 7.1.1.

Hmmmm...did you buy this from a store or an individual? In any case, I would think that an unregistered version of PT 6.9 would be automagically a free upgrade to PT LE 7x, no?

I mention this because I know I have no issues using it on an instrument track or an aux track in LE 7...

I don't have a 6.x version...you might also try updating your ST2 engine to 2.1...the engine upgrade is free...

Thanks so much for all the input guys, I'm really rapt that we all want to help each other and the advice is always much appreciated! :)

I've been using ST2XL but today will try out ST2.1 as I downloaded it the other day. Perhaps that will do the trick. I will report back as to what the outcome is!

I've got it working!!!! Yep some things have changed from 6.4 to 6.9!

In 6.4, when I set up an aux track for ST2 or SS2, I could hear the plug in no matter which input the aux channel was set to. Now, I have to set it to 'no output' in order to hear it! I thought it was something that i'd forgotten about but alas when opening old PT songs with the old settings, I can see that I now have to select 'no output'!

Now that I've got ST2.1 up and running, I can't seem to get any sound from ST2.0! Anyhow so long as I've got 2.1 up and running fine, that is great!

I have to set the aux tracks 'input'(!) to no input in order to hear ST or SS:)
