Hi, I am using some Voxengo plugin demos and am having problems with latency.

CurveQ
HarmonEQ
Pristine Space
These are all unusable right with with the latency....

What's up with this??

I haven't ever had this kind of issue with anything other than reverb IR plugins before. If I switch over to a different plugin the latency is gone. I am also testing some other products with no latency issue.

This is strange to not be able to use the EQ due to the delay when all other plugins work fine.

Is there a setting within the plug I should know about?

Cubase SX 3 -latest update
1 gig ED ram
Echo mia midi card (tried 256 and 512 buffer on the card)
300 gig HD

Thanks!

Jim

First and foremost, don't forget that SX3 compensates this delay :) However, here is the explanation...

CurveQ: Is a linear phase EQ made for mastering, linear phase EQs ALWAYS have a high amount of latency, it is a limit of FIR filters that are used to do this. GlissEQ is your typical IIR filter design which has no latency.

HarmonEQ: If you click on the ? Button, confirm that this is not in LinPhase mode. When it isn't in Linear Phase mode, there is 0ms latency. When it is in LinPhase mode, the same principle as CurveEQ applies.

Pristine Space: Click on the ? and you can adjust latency to as low as 0, however, all convolution reverbs produce fast CPU spiking at such low latencies, this is a limit of the convolution algorithm and can not be worked around. I use 128 or 256 samples of delay and I find Pristine Space pretty stable all round.

Thanks I will give this a try.

jimvictor, I've replied to your query (but please use Contacts page on the Voxengo website in the future - private messaging of KVR is not very convenient).

To put it short, latency is not an 'issue' - it is a technical feature (and in some cases a technical limitation which cannot be simply removed).
