Ableton multiple outputs...

Hi,

I have a sb live platinum 5.1 sound card.
It supports multiple inputs and outputs (I see that in ableton preferences).

If I set my main speaker (master) to the headphone plug in front of my computer, and set my headphones (fot cue) to the speaker plug in the back of my computer, will ableton automatically recognize the 1/2 as the master + the 3/4 as the headphones" ?

If no, should I tweak in the sound card preferences??

On my laptop, I only have one input/output. Does an "usb audio interface" suffices to support "multiple outputs"?!?

Ableton is not telepatic, so it can't know your intentions with all the output. So the device preferences is the way to go. Maybe you can even assing a seperate output per track.

I don't have Ableton, so wouldn't know weather it can handle multiple audio cards. If you use Asio4All in "Einstein" mode, all your cards can be merged into one big multi-channel asio device.

You can assign seperate outputs per track, but as far as I know you can only use one sound card. If your sound card has multiple outputs and it's been configured properly then on bringing up the I-O section you'll be able to set the desired output on the master channel for both the master out and the cue out.

OK, if soundcard is bad configured,
I'll buy an USB sound card (best solution, considering I will also connect it to my laptop).

USB sound card is ok?
