I know it's a little rude to say so, but if you've never gone to real mastering engineer, you should treat yourself. And once you do, you won't be looking for ways to do it yourself.
Grist for the glamour mill.

well, in order to go to a real mastering engineer, you've gotta have something worth mastering.. :hihi: I just want some plugs that will beef up my sound.. Gotta think hard through the weekend, both sales ends soon.. psp or discodsp.. :help:

If you want beef demo Elephant (BBQ beef with bite) and MPL-1 (Marinade cured beef).

If you're sure you want PSP try the MixPack (beef stew), insert MixPressor when your audio isn't playing, choose a preset, turn the "Mix" (dry/wet) knob down to 0 (dry) and with your audio playing slowing turn the mix knob up to taste.

Happy Eatin Pardner! :D

True. If you try out the best mastering VSTs with the best parameter settings possible, then you may get a good idea of what your song can sound like if mastered.

But it would be a good idea to keep the original (pre-mastered) tracks to take to a professional mastering engineer once you've saved up some money, no?

I know the feeling :D.

btw my approach regarding mastering VST's (and a lot others too, lately), is keeping track of the market place forum. I bought a.o. Blue Tubes and MasterQ/MasterComp that way. And of course you just missed the PSP group buy... :s
