Or "Rumours" as they spell it across the pond. :)

I've heard this bit of gossip - it will be bundled with Voxengo plugs :-o (I'm slow, so sorry if this has already been thrashed out here).

Anyway, as a consequence, I'm holding off buying anything more from Voxengo (sorry Alexsey) until I have Sonar 6 in my quivering hands.

Another less reliable rumor: they will bundle Cakewalk 1.0 DOS version, the theory being that by showing this in contrast, users will see how far their program has developed over the years. To maximimize the effect, version 1.0 will come with a dongle.

Anyone else care to add to the speculation? (Except you beta-testers, of course - but anything your girlfriends/wives have to say is very much welcome, as they didn't sign anything). :P

Um, your friendly neighbours to the north also spell "rumours" the correct way. Maybe, in fact, it's just the Americans that got it wrong.

Who said anything about "right" or "wrong" spelling? =9_9= Everyone's right, 'kay?

I won't speculate because some of the speculation borders on FUD-mongering and I really don't care for FUD. Nothing personal, flugel, but there it is.

Sonar6 will have a DONGLE!? You have GOT to be kidding me.

No dongle is one of the things that I believe CW has confirmed for v6. Check the CW forums if interested but I think it's pretty well verified.

it's an interesting rumor/rumour

no way to confirm or deny
but Cakewalk does have a reseller relation with Voxengo
and I have been lobbying for a few months for Cakewalk to enter into more mutually beneficial relationships with independent developers since they've pulled Rene in

like a voiced in the wilderness
seems win/win to me

but I'm sure it's not as simple as I might hope

If true, the Voxengo part will be good news for Alexey. I wouldn't hold off buying though. I got Pristine Space Light (?) in the group buy, then got nearly the same reverb when I upgraded to Sonar 5. Don't mind a bit, and I don't consider my money wasted -- a good developer deserves supporting.

Have edited the original post, but as the dongle goes (Wasn't that the name of a soap opera?), I was referring to the Cakewalk version 1.0! (Was meant as a joke - sorry, it sounded funnier in my head). :(

And Meffy, I see your point about supporting Alexsey, but I'm not exactly talking a boycott here. Sonar 6 is due out in about a month. Since I just bought Voxformer last week, and wasn't planning to get anything else soon anyway, from any developer, as I'll be counting my pennies for Cake's upgrade. That's all I meant.

*bow* My mistake. :-)

I might be the one behind the Voxengo rumor - pure speculation, but it's based on the fact that the Sonar 6 ad in the new Electronic Musician shows a new Compressor with the A/B functionality that's a hallmark of Voxengo plugins, along with the fact that Voxengo supplied a major plugin for Sonar 5 (Pristine/Perfect Space).

The text of the teaser was

- Tighten up your band's rhythm, or change the song's tempo instantly
- Change the way you work with virtual instruments forever
- Sound better than ever before

This is also pure speculation, but I don't know how to read the first bullet point without coming to the conclusion that Sonar 6 will have Live-like tempo manipulation.

Honestly, I'm not the kind of guy that gets worked up about feature requests year round, but I always get curious about the next Sonar release in the month leading up to the announcement of features that will be included - now I know why some people call them "Crackwalk".

That's the first I've heard of these teasers. Interesting.

I'm not so interested in the tighten up the band thing...but I wonder what they are going to change forever about working with virtual instruments?

20-40% better, perhaps?

Oops, missed this. Actually it was Pristine Space Light, wasnt it? And Voxengo discontinued the product afterwards, giving CW 'exclusivity'.
