...looking to see what kvr folks have set up for their 'virtual' effects racks nowadays...setting up a little project studio with friends, and i have the lucky job of setting up the daws. wanna see what people are using as their effects plugs

we have a 2,000 dollar budget, for effects, we purchased most of the vsti's and hardware stuff already,, what would be the plugin set YOU would buy with that amount?? looking for a concise set that cover a lot of processing possibilities, so hopefully you guys can help me narrow it down some as i love true user input verses salesman jargon

*****sits out penny jar******

thanks ;)

Buy at least the effects bundle baggio is selling in the Market Place section. Seriously great deal on the best effects available.

Then you have still over 700 to spend on a the basic processing stuff, limiters eqs, compressors.... but not sure if you plan to mix inside the computer?

Anyway CSR reverb might be cool.

thanks for the tip-- i will check out the deals and see whats what. if i can i would like new boxed plugins in case we would like to sell, bu we're just brainstorming as of now...thanks for the swifty reply

1. I think you could get most of the whole voxengo set for about $700 wich covers most of your bases. Contact Aleksey, i'm sure he'll work with you and may give great deal on whole collection.

2.Then you could get a uad-1 flexipack for $600 you go to right place.

3.Then you could add more reverbs with CSR and Wizooverb 2 (on sale) for about $350 together.Several reverb options is a must with me (probably my most important effect).

4.The whole Izotope collection for about $350 (if still on sale), Trash,Ozone mastering suit, spectron modulator/special effect, vinyle (freeware)..

5.Then panorama by wave arts is on sale for $99.

6.Then kjaerhus gate,mpl-1 limiter, golden modulator for about $180 (give or take a few bucks).

This is all comes out to about $2280, give or take a few bucks. If thats two much i'd eliminate a few plugins from the list. This is a very complete route giving you many options in several plugin categories to take care of the needs of many different type songs. This is close to the route i went and i believe each of the plugin collections above to be outstanding and i could not stress enough the Voxengo's! Also look into tritone digital stuff.Sorry for going over $2000 but thats life aint it :) ?

-UAD-1 with Neve EQ, Fairchild, 1176, LA2A, probably some of the Boss plugins
- Voxengo Marquis, probably AF bundle (chorus sounds great)
- CSR-1 (or buy a lexicon pcm91)
- kjaerhus gate
- AirEQ as workhorse EQ

- download the TLS freeware stuff, the free digitalfishphones plugins

spend the rest on hardware (better converters, monitors, preamp, mic)

Okay here's what I would buy with that amount of money and no FX yet (I'm not counting btw so I could be cheaper)

WithoutDongles&All:

the Complete Ohmforce Package
Audio Damage Reverence
the PSP Package
Juice Pack
Quantum-fx
Princeton Stereo Room

you'd be set

including Dongles (both of 'em)

I'd throw in Amplitube2
and maybe the new ChannelStrip from URS

what more could you want????

and I don't think that's ove a 2000bucks

Post

well the no dongle bundle maybe I guess with everything included it could be a bit more expensive

Sounds best & low impact on the DAW cpu usage.

Perhaps even Liquid Mix if the budget allows. :hihi:

i really like uad plugs....i've seen mixed things about voxengo, but from some of the demos and stuff, they seem pretty good....

so some of my ideas so far on this:

eq: AIReq, UAD Neve eq

compressors/dynamics: so many, hard to narrow this one down, gota do some research

i definitely wanna look at autotune 4. we are going to be demo cutting a lot of singers and vocal work so that plays a big part in our overall selection. Thanks for the replies people, your keepin me busy with research, thus aiding in making the right choices
