Here's my conundrum - got a messy bass-drum track with a lot of bleed on it, would like to keep the 'click' on the bass-drum hit but gate out the high-frequencies on the rest of the track - I have the Waves Diamond C1-gate but I'm a bit baffled, can anyone guide me through it?

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear - I want to knock out the hi-freqs only

Actually an envelope following filter might work, you could try this out:
