Heh, good to hear. And there's a, fully functioning, no-dongle, week-long free evaluation too, so I don't really need any "salesman jargon". Try it for yourself and if it's your kinda thing make sure you get it before Sept 1 cuz the price is going up.

There is a great deal on IK FX bundles going on now at eSoundz.

IMO you can't go wrong with A2, and I bet CSR is nice too!

This would be a crucial point for you. If you're running more than one, some of those plugins will have to be purchased multiple times. It adds up fast!

well, one 'computer' will be used for recording and mixing/mastering, another for track composing (midi). most of these plugs will be going to be used on the recording pc, but, im glad you asked this because i wasnt thinking i ould have to buy multiple instances

anyone selling effects bundles with a per user policy and not per pc, ala energyXT???

damn, i didnt think of that. adding up fast indeed...

Strictly no, but informally (and entirely at our discretion) yes... just email me and request a second key.

Don't expect 3 new keys a week though.

Hey There

My advice is to stay native and just worry about one cpu, the on your motherboard. Ok that being said.....

I just bought the entire PSP product line and have to say that I am very happy with it. There is so much from PSP that I would recomend but the best thing to do is just go there site and see what you feel you need. Another company that I regard very highly is Ohm Force. If you need a good delay, chorus, distortion or filter go there site and download the demos. There software sounds fantastic.

I would recomend that you pick up the...
-PSP Mix pack
-PSP Vintage Warmer
-PSP Neon HR (only get the HR if you need the extra features)
-PSP Master Limiter or the Kjaerhus MPL-1(I don't have it but others seem to rely like it)
-I would recomend you get CLAW from Advanced Audio Research it's a must have free VST and it is free. You have to email them and they will send it to you.
-Wizooverb for reverb (It sounds better than SIR and is way more stable on my sytem).
-Ohm Force it all sounds great you cant go wrong.

I would look to jkaerhus for there compressors as well. This is just because they have a totaly different sound than the PSP stuff. The same Could be said for Voxengo. Wizoo is a great "go-to" verb because it has many different sound styles in one place and has a very nice interface. Seems stable and sound great. You will always want some other reverb sounds but for that I just go to freeware. I could talk VST's for a long time but as for what I own it is pretty simple. PSP total Pack, Reaktor, Ableton Live, Powercore(selling it), and some Ohm Force. I would like to buy some Kjaerhus down the road for flavor. This list leaves out my VSTI's. Try to look at your software like hardware and you will be better off. You dont need ten different compressors two or three very good ones will do the trick. same for reverb and so on. Good to have but after a wile it is just a distraction.

Yep. A bit underrated in the last time imho. I'd recommand SIR + ArtsAcoustic Reverb rather than the Wizooverb2 to get a perfect combination of convolution and algorithmic reverb - and also a cheaper one...!

For the money saved, go and get also the new Reverence from Audiodamge (only 39$) and you'll have all you need: SIR for convolution, ArtsAcoustic for flexible and natural allround reverb, Reverence for plates...

For other than reverb I can recommand:
- CamelPhat and CamelSpace
- PSP MixPack
- Kjaerhus (everything)
- Scarbee Vintage Keyboard FX
- URS EQs
- Sonalksis EQ and Compressor

In that order (for me, the Princeton ones come last simply because of the iLok...actually that puts them off my list completely, but it won't bother some people). If iLoks didn't bother me so much, I'd put Princeton in top place for the native ones.

Delays:
PSP - any of their "Lexicon" range
OhmForce Ohmboyz
Possibly the Audio Damage dub one.

I'd probably go for all 3 there - can't have enough good delays IMO

Modulation:
Kjaerhus GMO1
OhmForce Mobilohm (multiphaser)

Compressor(s):
Kjaerhus GUP1 or GCO1 (both much the same, but GCO1 has more subtleties and extras, but no sidechain...GUP1 has sidechain but less flexibility)
Voxengo Marquis
+ UAD comps

Limiter:
I'd probably stick with UAD here.

Eq:
Again, I'd stick with UAD

Filters:
PSP Nitro

Manglers:
CamelPhat
OhmForce Haematohm

There are plenty of other FX, but many of those you can simply use your host's FX. For example, I just use Cubase's gate and midigate. Their Chorus is fine and dandy, as is their multiband (although limited). And Quadrafuzz is still top of the pile for my distortion/overdrive uses.

And use some freebies. There are some very good ones indeed.
SIR is fine for reverbs if you use good quality impulses at 24bit or above...and for other convolution uses.
Almost all of the DigitalFishphones FX still stand alongside the best in terms of character.
Pocket Limiter is very nice for soft limiting on a budget.
SlimSlow C3 is a great multiband compressor for special FX (I don't rate it very high for general audio quality though...certainly not for mastering).
SOme of the Interruptor delays are great - use alot of CPU (they're Synthedit) but nonetheless sound great in dub and anything using big echoes.
Almost anything by e-phonic too. His RetroDelay is very good at exactly what it says in its name.
Kjaerhus Classic series - all good, although basic. But an excellent set of bread and butter FX.

I'm sure I missed out many...

But for me...UAD, Kjaerhus, PSP, OhmForce. They are the cream of the crop either singly or in bundles. Some hit the mark, some miss...but I couldn't make a track without at least some of their plugins somewhere in the process.

u might want to check out har-bal too.. for making your mixes sound really nice and balanced.. not a plug in but still E.Q based software and only a hundred bucks.. a great investment.
