I've been doing the PC based audio thing for awhile now. I've gone through a bunch of different plug ins, sound cards, processors, etc... I now everybody likes to smash Waves and the iLok and any kind of dongle. I am just here to ask, is $340 for teh Waves Renn Maxx bundle sound like a good deal to you? Also now they give you the TuneLT and IR-L reverb. I've used the Renn plugs and I thought they were good. I've also been using Voxegno plugs, which I think are good, although sometimes confusing because of all the differenct choices on their site. Used the plugs bundled with SX3, they can get the job done...

The "smaller" developers are just as expensive as Waves if you break it down. The Renn Maxx bundle seems like a kick butt value if you are willing to use the iLok. Granted something like the Platinum bundle or Diamond is probably overkill and it would be nice to choose the plugs you want and don't want...

Also, it is less expensive than the plugs for the Powercore and UAD stuff... It would be better if you could use those plugs without having to use the DSP device, especially since there are processors now like the Core 2 Duo that are incredible.

Bah, I've been thinking of getting the Renn Maxx bundle. I have other plugs that I like right now, but when I used the Waves Platinum for awhile, I got some good results, although I get pretty good results with what I use now(mainly voxengo and the Tone Port). Any thoughts?

To me that IR-L reverb is worth at least $200 alone. It is really good. I bought a couple waves bundles and couldn't be happier with them except for the roomverb, I thought that could be better but it's not terrible but I plan on getting CSR reverb sometime. Don't forget you have to shell out like 40 bucks for a dongle on top of that 300 and some dollars. But I think you will be happy with it. I would even consider the gold bundle instead.

Yea, the dongle isn't a problem. It would be better if the companies all used the same dongles, that way my Steinberg one would cover this. The gold can be had for about 800 dollars, I don't know if I want to spend that much. When I used the Waves stuff for "mastering" I actually ended up liking the Voxengo stuff better. I really like Soniformer, CurveEQ, and Elephant. The Waves masters stuff worked good though. I think it would be better if they had some sort of Multiband widening tool though, like Soniformer has, which is good for seperation.
