Don't forget that license transfers are allowed by Kjaerhus, so you could always sell them if you're not happy with them. Keep in mind that Kjaerhus offers demos of all their products, did you try the Gate before buying it ? There's still quite a while left before the special runs out so there really was no rush to buy it.

A good test before you put your cash down is always a good idea

WHY START A THREAD ABOUT DOWNLOADING ISSUES?

You seem to be just begging for attention, and making up problems. This is really a sad thread. If you don't like Kjaerhus plugins, don't use them. But it's pathetic to start a thread about download issues, for plugins that you don't want to use anyway.

M'Snah - if you followed this thread, you would see that Torben has apparantly recently changed his distribtion method, and I totally misunderstood what was going on. I have been a Kjaerhus customer for years, and thought you simply downloaded the latest demo and unlocked it - like many other vendors. I didn't realise this when I started this thread. It was not a hate thread - it was just a question, because I didn't understand - and thought I was being disadvantaged. It was a communication problem.

I actually like Kjaerhus products - and they were a big help when I had nothing better. Now I am spending more money on better plugins, and I admit i'm frustrated with the limitations of the Kjaerhus stuff, for me personally.

If Kjaerhus stuff was just crap, I wouldn't care and wouldn't post about it. The fact is, he does some nice stuff that sounds good - but tends to leave out important parameters that his competitors or even freebies have. This is frustrating me, because I want to use his products - especially the ones i've paid for, but i'm finding I need to buy more expensive competitor products just to get the features I want.

I thought KVR was about open, honest discussion about all plugins - the good, the bad and the ugly. The pros and the cons.

Confusing?? I take it the Demo and the Full Version are two different .dlls, and both look identical because it's cheaper and easier to use the same GUI. And you can register the Demo, but it won't have the full features?? (that's not what the web site said - it said you can't register it). And you can use the Full Version in Trial Mode?? I guess that means it sort of works until your Register it, and then it has the full features? I'm sorry I got confused about this, but I really think this is confusing.

Just be extremely careful that you are not throwing out good sonic tools simply on the short-sighted whim of wanting more features.

Look at some old tools that are now considered classic tools. Some old compressors that don't even have continuous compression ratio dials. That is merely a feature that doesn't stop a great piece of kit from sounding good on certain material.
You bought Kjaerhus comps etc because they sound good. They still do. I learnt a long time ago that some features you can very easily learn to live without as long as the core sound is what you want.
You can buy a PSP comp and it might have more features. That is precisely the wrong reason to buy a compressor. You buy it for its sound and character and sound sculpting capabilities. I can give an argument that I should sell my MS10 and replace it with an MS20 (actually I no longer own a 10, but I do own a 20 - but for completely different reasons...) because the MS20 has double the number of oscillators, more envelopes etc. Yet there are some sounds you can make on an MS10 that you simply cannot make on an MS20, try as you might. So if you like all the types of sounds they both make...you buy both. You don't throw out one because of an extra feature it lacks all of a sudden.


There is a time in your development where you really can get blinded by feature set and gizmos. I've been there done it, bought it and eaten beans on toast for tea every night for 6 months as a result, until the next flashy thing comes along. The sound is the thing. Kjaerhus sold you a good sounding compressor. It still is. It always will be (as long as the current Windows OS is still compatible with it). You are free to prefer the different sound of, say a PSP compressor. If you can't afford both, you can sell GCO1 to fund the PSP. If you actually prefer the actual sound character of the PSP one, then go for it too. It is a different sound character. You don't have to have only one or the other.
If you sell GCO1 simply because you prefer the number of dials, or some petty little feature extra in the PSP one, or because you couldn't be bothered reading the email Torben sent you...then I say you're being silly in the extreme. PSP comps are no better than Kjaerhus ones...they may well sound a little different though. If they cost more...please please believe me when I tell you the extra charge is not for more quality - it is simply for different quality. I get the impression you are being blinded by price only.

There are workarounds to almost any shortcoming (especially in a DAW) to enable you to use a good-sounding tool. Don't let laziness be you own enemy.
