Hi guys,

I don't actually use samplers much at all, if ever, but this idea wouldn't really be for my sake anyway - it'd be a contribution to KVR :)

Not sure if it'd be a cheap (but for sale) thing or free - that'd be up to me and any collaborators after we're finished.

Anyway, here's what I'd like to do:

I'd like to focus on for a sample set of pop backing vocals, which is something I specialise in. I guess we'd have to include "normal" bvs (oohs, ahs, etc), but we could also do some interesting ones, sliding, using different vowels, etc. One thing I'd really like is to have the samples respond to legato playing - what I mean is, say if you sing "yeah", but play a legato phrase, the initial "y" sound is only on the first note.

I'd also like to do some pop choir samples - I've developed a technique which makes me sound like a choir all by myself, and it'd be great to include some of that. I've made it sound a bit fancy, but basically I stumbled across a method which works - you basically have to force yourself to sing a little bit out of time for a few passes (not easy for a session singer!) and with as many different timbres to your voice as possible (even if it sounds ridiculous solo'd).

It'd also be great to include some claps, as you often use them in conjunction with bvs or choirs.

I'd be bringing my voice and studio setup to the table, and the other collaborators would need to "assemble" the samples into a coherent fashion. I can host the samples on my site, and give the collaborators access to my ftp.

In other words, I'll sing all the parts, and the others will make them into a sample set.

What say?

i've got no skills in this area, just wanted to say it's a great idea.

Watto, I would gladly jump on board on this one. This is one sample library that is lacking. The only one I know of is at Wizoo and it's not cheap at all.

But I really have considered putting one together, and have many ideas for this. Get in touch with me and we can talk, as I think two heads are better then one(or as many heads as you have!).
