I tell ya: it's like Boris K. and Logic had a kid...

I was thinking the same thing :)

(edit - about the Virsyn link that is)

Actually, that's misquoting me a bit. I never mentioned Meddle, which has a similar GUI, but not an especially similar feature set. I think the comparison with TERA is more compelling.

it looks like they are *cough*borrowing*cough* from logic, live, and even kore.

soundframe looks awesome. such a needed thing, that. but the plug interfaces just dont compete with the logic ones. they are goregously designed, but it's completely obvious they were going for logic-esque almost too much. look at how the pots are sitting in the middle of negative space on some of those shots. looks totally goofy imo. i know the 'round' thing is emulation of logic ui design, etc, but ffs they are literally floating all over. not my cup o' tea to be sure but very nice. i can already hear the bitching of users with low res smaller displays.

clarifying; i think this new stuff is great design, just am not impressed by emulation -- i expect steinberg dudes to innovate, not emulate. especially steinberg.

the simple clean look of the controls on the channel strip for example are clearly emulating live as well.. it's a good thing to emulate, live UI rules.

heh. they all look like fun though, for sure. i wonder how the designers felt when steiny said "we need new stuff that looks like logic and live"?

FINALLY docked views!? :) i may be upgrading to this one. the thing is it's still cubase :) i'd really like to see some menu shots -- pulldowns exposed to see how all this new stuff is integrated.

if they do have gapless, that will be incredible. can you imagine?

where did you read that?

Nah then. That's 33 to 1 against no bugs in the audio engine.

12 to 5 on no more fixes for SX 3, err…

3 to 1 they never get the bugs out of control room, moving up 33 to 1 it crashes the program in the first release.

5 to 1 the new synths are just d'Cota in a fancy gui.

5 to 4 on SONAR gets a new release out just in time to spike the market.

Come on now! You're the fools, give me yer money!

Actually, I was just borrowing your URL. Didn't mean to quote you, just wanted to show my point. Sorry!

That was a joke, methinks.

In a word, "no".

What do you mean?

(I do remember that in SX2 they copied the exact Freeze function that Tracktion had pioneered, but beyond that I don't actually remember, so please remind me...)

Sonar 6 is out next month. So is Live 6. And possibly Tracktion 3. And let's not forget Samplitude 9 and Logic 8... Interesting times...
