Couldn't agree more. I (sorry, guys) love Cubase and would like to see the beast streamlined a bit more. The load up time is just ridiculous. Judging by the demos of EnergyXT and FL Studio - whose startup time is about 4 nanoseconds... (not going to go into pointing out the differences between these and Cubase) it'd be nice if Cubase would just let you manually add the instruments/effects you want to use.

seriously, as far as gui is concearned, cubase 5 and sx3 had the best and most easy to use interfaces ever. i hope they don't chuk it up... i made the switch to Logic 7 over a year ago but i still miss the cubase gui and the way things are layed out. i want to kill whoever thought it would be smart to make the first note you step sequence always a 16th note in Logic and I hate that "smart" snap shit in the Logic midi editor... at least in Cubase, snap always defaults to the grid size/note size you're entering.

What's those animation characters ever done to deserve such a insult :hihi:

God I hate the new look already. It's a mix of of Ableton and Logic. I loved the flashy buttons. I also don't like the new channel strip (where are my boxes to write in my settings?!). The fader is to the right now (bleargh), still no sign of "OMG SIDECHAIN ON" (unless that's that button below mute and solo), etc.

The control pannel for the devices is nice graphically, but I see no use in it. Not intuitive IMO. The instruments? Okay, layout overhaul, but really looks like a mix of Sonar, Logic and Boris K now. Where's the A1? Where's a convolution reverb (new plugins in general)?

I'm fairly sure, Steinberg brings us new "toys" again (you decide if they're good or bad - but a "scope" while browsing files? BLEARGH, CPU hog), however I'm 100% certain that they missed out requests again, and it'll be buggy as hell.

I'm also surprised that Musician's Friend knows of SX4 and it's layout already, but Steinberg themselves don't know jack, neither was their page updated.

However, I'm most curious about the upgrade prices. 99Euro for SX4 from SX3? Or 150Euro to 200Euro? Fair priced and a competition to Sonar/Logic, or is the included material crap as usual (who needs a HalionPlayer, if the engine stood still since V1!).

We will see - as soon as it's out... or something like that.

I wouldn't get too wound up yet; way too early to pass judgement, n'est pas? Those could be beta leaks.

Of course Steinberg knows the specs. Those pic are called 'teasers' and are released all the time by companies as an early form of publicity for a soon to be released product.

YEEEEEEEAH! But... why not on the Steinberg page? Okay Steinberg (firm) is strange anyway, they also said "no infoleak till end of september" (which means it comes out 3rd October, like last time - oh wait "Tag der deutschen Einheit" in Germany, or November.

Also... Cubase 4, either that's a typo (I mean, the cover sure looks like Wavelab) or it'S really a step into the stoneage (OMG, I might fire up my VST3.7 again!).

We will see. So far, it's sugarbread - but when will Steinberg whip out assed? I guess right after we bought SX4 (aka - we're beta testers for bugfixes).

We will see, maybe we get some goodies this time (Impulse Reverb, new compressors, a 5.1 RMS meter, sidechaining, custom plugin movement in the channelstip, etc). However I'm glad that I kept my old cubase versions for some of the VSTi's (A1 especially) that will sure be dropped.
