You might try the G-town samples, which have been converted to soundfont, and can be found here:
http://www.sf2midi.com/index.php?page=sdet&id=7058
Unfortunately, there's quite a bit of reverb on them, if I remember.
You might try http://dorumalaia2.com/ - you would probably find some darbuka samples on one of his CDs.
Good luck.

I think theres a basic darbouka included an sf2 called AfroPercussion in the Ethnic section of www.soundfonts.it
Also found this link to some loops (they might be crap).

Obviously, you could always buy a darbouka. I've seen them for as little as 20 quid and they sound quite good.

Crappy sheet metal turkish ones. Have no Tek to speak of. A good one will set you back about $100.sonarman wrote: Obviously, you could always buy a darbouka. I've seen them for as little as 20 quid and they sound quite good.
The Mid-east ceramic models are quite popular and sound great.
Hm. What went wrong with that link?

Chances are you would have picked something that was "for the tourists" and (unless you know the instrument well enough) both worse and more expensive than what you can get at home.stevieb19 wrote:In fact the matter is that I have just returned from Turkey hense the project so I should have bloody brought one while I was there but I was close to my luggage limit.
Victor.
PS Remo is coming out with a new doumbek, name Ergo or something, that is not cheap but is getting good reviews from people who know what they're talking about.
