Apart from that though, I've used Cubase for a long time. I'm also a Reason 3 owner and I've used ProTools and Logic along with a Mix 24 system. Since I review stuff I've also had the pleasure to use software like ProTools M-Powered, Sonar 5, Energy XT, Magix Music Studio and so on.
And from my experience, all I can say is - whatever floats your boat - seriously.. Sure, there are differences between hosts and one host may at one time be superior to another host. But in the long run they all work bloody well for composing or recording music. Cubase users know very well what limitations their host has, but that also goes for Reason, Sonar, Live, Logic and ProTools users. But so what? Can't this just be a positive thread about what may or may not be included in the next Cubase version? Why should someone who doesn't even own the software even bother to bash an update based entirely on speculation? I really don't see the point.

Yeah, you're right: the Google Image thing really helps a lot. Yours Truly included.

like i said earlier on in the thread that I had to switch to Logic Pro 7 for various reasons and I did miss some elements of the GUI in cubase. that said, i still had to switch to be compatable with the people I was working with.
there are a few things that I like a lot better in Logic though. At the time I made the switch (over a year ago), my music required me to freeze vstis really fast. this got to the point of being extrememly annoying. Around the time I was contemplating the switch, I compared logic 7 running on a top of the line Mac to Cubase SX3 running on the best PCs I could find and I just felt that Logic ran more smoothly. I'm sure that's probably all changed by now because at the time of my comparison, dual processor support wasn't the best for cubase as far as I could tell (but what do I know). the other thing is that I noticed that with the same audio interface, the same vsti would sound slightly different from the Mac running Logic vs. the PC running SX3. It was very subtle and I know that there could been tons of factors (the choice of sequencer probably not even being a factor for all i know) but I liked the sound comin out of the Logic on Mac better for the most part (though I thought Albino 2 sounded better out of the PC with Cubase SX3)... Again, all totally subjective...
point is though, I think that at the rate things are going, Cubase will probably be the better choice in the long run because Apple is only really releasing bug fixes of their sequencer for the forseeable future (and then charging us $70 US to get the upgrade sent out to us). At the time I made the switch, I was pissed though that steinberg was releasing a FULL PAID update every almost annually. That sucks too. That said, the difference in the functionality of the freeze function between SX1 and SX2 or SX2 and SX3 is pretty impressive. but seriously, you could have gotten it right the first time (like Emapple)...
anyways, they're both pretty similar. You can make some good tracks with either. I remember having the same argument with people over Cubase vs. Opcode vs. the early versions of Logic. Steinberg was #1 back then. up until then, they were always at the top of their game. but after that point, it's felt like cubase has been playing catch-up to the competition... they've been trying to integrate aspects found in the product from the competition ever since then...
this isn't a bad thing. i don't care who came up with an idea first. who does it best is all that matters to the consumer. but in this case, steinberg wasn't the company that implemented these features most effectively...

I have something against users however, who're close-minded. Especially that Fruity Loops fraction. I had the best examples while I still was over at OCRemix. Examples? Sure:
- "Fruity Loops is so much more intuitive than Cubase"
- "Fruity Loops sequencer/piano roll is so much better than Cubase's"
- "Fruity Loops owns, everything else sucks"
Seriously though, it does amaze, the amount of emotion attached to one's choice of host. I used to get emotional about Win/Mac, and I got over it. I used to get emotional about AMD/Pentium, but I got over it. By the time I discovered the DAW world, I had gotten over all that kind of time-wasting nonsense and now only care that the damn thing works for me in the quest to make the kind of music I want. I could give two bleeding shits what other people use. Which is why I retract all that stuff I said about free vs. paid plugs/samples in the Rhodes emulation thread. All part of my promise to clean up my act. We are all entitled to use the DAW of our choice, and to include anti-Jew material in our sigs.

Sorry all - the Jew thing is a sore spot with me, having lived long enough to remember the Yom Kippur and Six-Day events. The State of Israel was created as a direct result of the Holocaust, and continued efforts to destroy it gall me a bit. Don't sweat it. 'T ain't nothin'.
