Voxengo's Impulse Modeler allows you to create your own IR's, by designing the space. It works quite well! But making your own IR's is really quite easy, I believe there's a video on the Altiverb site that can give you a pretty good idea of how to go about creating them. The deconvolving will be a bit different, but you don't need Altiverb to find it handy.

For special effect stuff in the vein of Spirit Canyon, just try messing about in an audio editor.

Try this:

- In audio editor, create 1 second of white noise.
- EQ out several bands from the noise
- fade out the whole sample (like a -20dB exponential curve if you can)

Load that into SIR and see what you get. Starting with that set up and doing any thing you like to the white noise with effects and processors, you can come up with an awful lot of useful sounds.
