This is my Dj/performance/collage composition wish list:

-MP3 playing/editing through import or direct stream

-integration with itunes by either reading its playlists and/or drag and drop

-movable loop markers per live clip

-crossfader component (add ins and assign a/b. Let it have kill, cut in, and one button fade)

-DJ eq component (3 band with kill and cut in)

-cue button on mixer (to send to alternate out)

-group solo and mute

-control surfaces. GUI boxes of uniform size so that they can stack together nicely into rack "rows" in a dock. They allow you to add vst or other parameters (such as cc to external gear) with curve mappings to user added buttons, knobs, sliders and x/y pads.

-qwerty modifier key for the control surface that allows a parameter change to glide to destination over a user defined time (inertia). This lets us make a change and still use the mouse for other things while the change gradually takes place.

-snapshots and morphing

-ability to have CC mappings per focused dock (so you can use the same knobs to control different parameters depending on what is in focus). can use Midi to change dock focus.

-reverse button for live clips

-abilty to make a live clip skip to clip x after y loops (for pattern chaining and fills)

-fine adjustment of tempos and nudge, and/or sync to audio input

-drink holder ;)

too tight to buy live then ???

slainte :P rob

yeah most of these would improve the live features of eXT, but as far as djing is concerned, it's all worthless without the warp thing...

Post

Oh rain on my parade why don't you.

(ps I got Live 5, but can't free myself from XT's modular main window. And for the record Live still needs a few of these, not to mention I think Jorgen could do it better. These would be helpful for more than just Djing too.)

I'm not saying i wouldn't want some warp feature though...

That would be such a great addition, but it's kind of ableton's cornerstone, and i wonder if Jorgen would feel like implementing it.

hm... odd timing for a thread of this kind... :?

Not really, Jens. Most of these request have been made before over the years, but I just compiled them now as there is a new version being written.

but that's exactly what I meant...

YEah i'm really holding back on FRs lately...
I'll just wait for v2 to drop.

I'm not bashing soma for this thread though, most of these things would be quite helpful, (not only for live performing), except the itunes thing :p

Jens, I did it now to make it easier for Jorgen to remember as he is in the process of adding features :)

The control surface idea was expanded and elaborated (glide and neatly stacking) and a few of the others I would assume would be easy enough and yet have not been mentioned as in XT2 yet. I guess the EQ and crossfader could be made as 3rd party VST's but the more integrated my (modular) system is the better.

Disturb, Jorgen already mentioned that there will be a feature to auto stretch or pitch shift clips to tempo. There will also be auto-slicing in tracks.

It's never wrong to mention such stuff to devs. Developers love to read about new features ...
If they implement them is surely another topic of its own I guess, and may have tons of reasons pro/contra.
(can only speak for myself of course)

I totally agree with jens!

Why ? Should no new features be mentioned ???
I don't think so ...
You make it feel like there will be XT2 soon, and that'll be it or something like this.
The development will surely continue or not ?

I'm sure it will! :D

I didn't say the suggestions are bad or anything - it's just:

- I'm sure Jorgen is already coding his arse off to get XT2 out

- no-one of us knows what XT2 will be like

hence I still think it' a strange moment in time for such a big collection of FR
