Hi everyone,

I have been reading about these two reverbs on this forum for days. I have also tried out the demos and I am having difficulty deciding which of these 2 to purchase.

Perhaps people who own both could point out some important advantages and disadvantages between them? For Example is Roomverb the more flexible all-around use reverb?

So far it seems to me that artsacoustic is more lush, however I find roomverb m2 is better for drums and has an easier to use preset system (and more presets as well).

If they were the same price I think I'd go with the artsacoustic...

Thanks for any help!

If I were you I'd go for the AAR. And if you have a little bit of money left, pickup the Revernce from AudioDamge for $39. With those two, imho, you cover nearly everything concerning algorithmic reverb.

The advantages from AAR compared to M2 are imho a much better modulation, true stereo, easier control with always very musical results, same if not better overall flexibility (look at attack/spread or echo parameters i.e.) and more realistic and spatial reverb surroundings, esp. in 64 bit mode.

What AAR (and M2 too, btw) is not best for, are plates and very fast and neutral reverbs, one of typical Lexicon sounds... Here, the Reverence is outstanding. You can use this i.e. on vocals, drums, synths... but it is a one trick pony, however, it fits perfectly the AAR's lack. They have no demo out, but I guess you won't regret the purchase.

Of course, reverb is always very subjective, this is only my opinion.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for your help! I am leaning towards AAR even more now, and am curious about reverence... Thanks again!

Take a look to the many reviews here on KvR with reverbs. Many people found the AAR on the top of the algorithmic reverbs. Others are more satisfied with the Classic Studio Reverb or the Wizooverb W2... But I cannot remember that somebody has wrote something about the Roomverb M2. No idea why, but I would go with AAR ;)

Wizooverb W2 is probably the best all-round reverb. Especially for $95 which I was lucky enough to get mine for. But even for it's standard price (around 250), it's still the best all-round reverb. You can spend a bit more and get CSR, which is IMHO the most versatile and musical reverb out there for your money. But Wizooverb still holds it's own. I didn't like AAR as much as Wizooverb W2. I was thinking about whether I should get AAR or Wizooverb. So I downloaded cracked versions, did virus scan on the files and then installed them, and gave them a thorough testing, then uninstalled them. I ended up choosing Wizooverb W2 as the most transparent (yet musical) reverb. And for $95 who could argue? It's a bloody steal!

And hey, don't believe in Big Brother's advice that it's never OK to download/use cracks. You can do that. As long as you either buy the software if you like it or you make sure you delete it as soon as you've finished evaluating it, you'll be fine. Most software companies offer demo versions but these are often crippled and don't allow you to fully evaluate the software, that's where cracks come in handy. If you choose to keep the installed cracked software on your system and start using it all the time without any intention of buying it, then you're doing the wrong thing.

Before I bought QL Colossus I used some copied DVDs from a friend of mine to try it out, loved it, bought it, and kept the DVDs as backups.

I have the AAR and just bought Wizoo W2 to compliment it. Could not resist the $100 price

artsacoustic by far ... and compliment it with the csr or the pristine space convolution reverb ... you got everything you need then ...

Did you use the W2 as both algo and convo? What are the supplied convo files like? I'm tempted to order it, but I'm on a mac and it will most probably never see UB.

I got Roomverb M1 (which you get cheaper than the M2 as a part of the excellent essential bundle) and I compared it to:
a) the M2: M2 is more flexible, but the M1 is flexible enough, soundwise I get similar good results.
b) AAR: AAR sounds much better out of the box, ie the presets are superior. but if you know how to tweak the M1 it sounds as good the AAR. Try my prests: http://www.power-xs.net/download/roomverbpresets.zip
(I think AA have implemented a default damping to get their sound, since with every other reverb I tried you have to apply damping to sound so "smooth", ie I think they cheapted)

To sum it up: I decided for the essential bundle, which gives me a great reverb + a great (true stereo) delay + fx designer (which is a lot of fun a can be used as a multi tap delay) + sineq (well, not so much impressed with this one)

cheers, akj

But Wizooverb has no modulation! I couldn't do without it. But it's a great convoluter. So I'd see it rather as a complement to AAR.

I don't think they cheated with doing a damping all the way at AAR. If the filters are left completly open, there are just too much highs of being prefiltered. But who knows, and if it sounds good, it is good :)

Btw, benjamind, doing something illegal is always bad. No matter what reason for. To recommand cracks is against kvr rules, so please stop it and leave each one's decission whether to use them or not outside kvr. Thanks.

(Beside that, W2, AAR and M2 all have demos out. No crack need for test.)

If you want a really good reverb (highest available studio quality), then get PrincetonDigital's StereoRoom.

Friteuse, I agree with you there. I apologise if I broke any KvR rules. I never recommend cracks per se, but I'm sure some software can only be fully evaluated by using one as demos often have severe limitations, missing presets, missing features, inserted sounds or volume dips during playback that just plain interferes with the evaluation session. I believe in the try before you buy principle. Some demo synths I tried had only the best presets (easy to judge the product as being great going by the demo but the rest of the presets in the full version sounded less than spectacular) and demo MP3 files have a lot of mastering done to them. How can you judge software or a plugin without seriously evaluating it? Most demo versions are good, but some are not enough to convince me that I'm evaluating the product - they leave me feeling that I'm evaluating something that isn't the full quid.

I also would buy Art acoustics Reverb. I use it in every song!

benjamind, all I mentioned was please leave this discussion out of this forum. You can go to the off topic forum or elsewhere. There is no consent in this subject and it just leads nowhere and is unfair towards the initiator of this thread. Don't get me wrong but I'm a bit tired of those endless warez discussions.

Thanks for your understanding. :)

Ok, on topic now: the Stereo Room 2016 is a great reverb, but I felt, like the Revernce, it was quiet a one trick pony, too. Only useful to complement or for special purposes (like rooms as the name indicates  ). The most annoying fact is that it uses PACE... and 200$ isn't very cheap for what it does.

Thanks to everyone!

I really appreciate all of the helpful commentary. In the end I decided to go with Arts Acoustic Reverb. It really is lush and beautiful: the intimate piano setting, the orchestral settings, and the long and deep synth settings really hooked me in.

I already have voxengo pristine space light so I didn't want to go with Wizoo W2 (plus W2 is a cpu hog). Roomverb M2 was tempting and sometimes it can sound close to AAR, but sometimes it sounds more synthethic to me (hard to explain) and since it is only $60 cheaper I decided to go with the one I liked the best: AAR. Hopefully, this is the last reverb I ever buy... I'm still in shock over the almost 200 bucks I laid down...

Thanks again to all!
