personally i dislike absolute midi pots, and find them workflow destroying. so even with your delta implementation id never use it. i think endless pots are quite usable. but still i dont use them, since generic midi controllers require learning for each plugin to benefit your workflow, and i cant be bothered. linear mouse movement is enough for me, then i can still look away from screen distractions when fine tuning. i dont need to be holding a knob
. just my perspective.

Hardware knobs and faders are really important in doing mastering and mixing. The drawback of computer based recording compared with portastudio and analog stuff which I used before is really about this.
The ability to move your controller to your lap, listen with eyes closed and move some physical knobs and directly hear the result of change.
This mouse oriented GUIs is a lot of clicking here and there and you have to look carefully in the gui all the time.
In Izotope Ozone for one I miss the ability to external controllers, and suggested it already a couple of years ago. I hope something will be updated regarding this.
I would regard any product with external controller ability as an advantage compared to those that don't have it.
An Evolution UC33e is what I use as of now but is thinking of getting a real control surface in future.
I use it for B4 organ, and softsynths and remote MMC control pad for the vocal booth.

And if you use your plug-ins for live preformance (even just at home), you really need MIDI control. Most decent hardware effects processors offer such capabilities.
I think mouse and hardware controllers are complementary.

Now we're talking - that would be perfection!lfm wrote:...The ability to move your controller to your lap, listen with eyes closed and move some physical knobs and directly hear the result of change.
