I am looking for a free plugin that can take a signal and harmonize it in up to 4 parts. I am hoping to use this to do harmonized guitar lines as well as vocals. It would be a bonus if I could control the notes the effect plays out with a keyboard. Anybody know of a plug that could do this?

http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1693.html (not free, cheap) There was one called Transponator but I think that went bust. Not 4 parts though. That could be a big ask.

doesn't work with vocals... sounds just bad ...(also my ironizer doesnt work good with vocals but thats the nature of this effect, its'most useable for drums/percussion stuff)

Akai Decabuddy is your best bet. If you want more, then you'll have to go hardware.

if a harmonizer is automatic, you're stuck to one chord per note. with midi control, you write the harmonies

this little unit blows my mind.

however, it's unavalable. you might talk to the author........sonifire

Yes, i will re-create it soon, and it will be part of my "Bargain of the Century!"

I also have plans to add a Vocal-Doubling option to it!

Give Elevayta Choir Boy a try. It will add 3 additional STEREO parts + Midi control.

Each additional voice can be panned independently.

Having spent time with all of these i too recommend decabuddy.

out of all these decabuddy is the only one that is an "intelligent" harmonizer, which means it actively tracks the input pitch and can then perform the harmonization based on a HARMONY MAP that you can edit and save and load.

which im told is a very tough trick to do.

I would sure like to see more of this type of harmonizer and itd be awesome if they could compatibly share harmony maps.

i think itll be awhile tho...
