You get rid of your cubase after all? It's the same brand dongle (syncrosoft) for both Cubase and Philharmonik/ CSR/ Amplitube2/etc and they are interoperable.ttoz wrote:Is sampletank going to dongle? If yes, i would like to sell it an SS.
No-one has said definitively about Sampletank (which I have) or Sonic Synth yet, so it's all speculation. I would hope that a point-release (say ST2.5) would not require one, but ST3 may be another story. One reason for using a dongle on a sample library is it can be used to encrypt the content (H3 does this), as well as protect the program.
I bit the bullet (and dongle) on Philharmonik, because there's really nothing like it at a reasonable price. I'm considering CSR down the road.

I guess this will prove the old saying you can't please everyone, but I'm actually a little disappointed to hear this. I was hoping for a way to use Philharmonik as an addition to my Sampletank Library for use in making combinations. I thought at one point that something was going to be worked out so that would be possible,, guess not though, huh??Squids wrote:No dongle for SampleTank planned.

Actually at the request of many users and even myself I am trying to get IK to just do away with the darn dongles. Them darn dongles!
But, we'll see what happens. But, yeah you can't please everybody.

I was one of the hold-outs - and it was Miroslav that convinced me. I have heard so few horror stories about the syncrosoft dongle (provided you follow instructions) that I will not let it be a serious hindrance to putting something my shopping list.Squids wrote:Actually at the request of many users and even myself I am trying to get IK to just do away with the darn dongles. If it was a company less responsive than SR/IK, I might feel differently, but you guys seem to be doing pretty good by me

I hope you do for get rid of it for CSR because I am going to get it but I honestly don't have toom for another dongle so I have to figure something out. When I put another dongle on my usb hub it sais it is using too much power, there are two already hooked up to my computer. What if everyone used a different dongle, geesh.Squids wrote:Actually at the request of many users and even myself I am trying to get IK to just do away with the darn dongles. It's funny I safeguard my dongle more than my car keys
Being able to upgrade to a version of Miroslav without the dongle would be nice though!

I think one of the best things for you guys is the fact that we don't just make this stuff as a business and crank it out with no connection to reality. We're all musicians so we use the stuff ourselves and see it from the customer's perspective. Not all perspectives at all times but certainly over time when and where you can improve things it inevitably happens as much as possible. I push for that anyway and it is one of the main reasons I make myself available here to listen to you as well... I get a sense of what would be best overall (also considering the company's needs) and I rally for us all. I mean, just the other day I was working in ProTools and had to plug-in yet another dongle for one of the plug-ins I wanted to use and I thought "Okay, this is kind of annoying" because I didn't have that other dongle handy (or it was being used in another machine). Unfortunately three products I like to use still do have dongles (ProTools, Logic and Cubase) anyway. Ironically sometimes I like to use Reason for ideas just because I know I can use it on ANY machine at any time! But, SampleTank and Sonik Synth 2 are like that too so... maybe Studiophonik will be that way as well...perhaps others but we shall see. Nothing official just me doing my best on my Jedi Mind influences.

What am I missing here? I have Cubase and Miroslav, as well as a couple of demos on the same dongle and it's absolutely no problem to use one USB port for this reason. The downloads have been effortless. I like the idea that my investment is protected. I am very careful with my dongle. I keep it clean and it's the first thing I zip up into my M Audio backpack.

Squids if you can get IK to get rid of the dongle you let them know that I'd pony up for CSR tomorrow and AT2 shortly after that. Hell I might even bite the bullet and just get that effects package you're selling (which is damn tempting even with it).
